i may have discounted some of them but i have done so with valid reasons. i shan't banter on with you on this matter anymore. i wish you every success in your stay in UK and if you ever carve a niche for yourself, may you also bring back that glory and start a new chapter in our own automotive industry.Originally posted by HENG@:there are many essential consideration factors but u discount some of them...

unfortunately thats not very viable. And any individual success which the sg govt or the sg society cannot take credit for making it happen, the govt ignores. They don't want to give other people any inkling that it is possible to leave the "protective" society of sg and achieve bigger things.Originally posted by snow leopard:i may have discounted some of them but i have done so with valid reasons. i shan't banter on with you on this matter anymore. i wish you every success in your stay in UK and if you ever carve a niche for yourself, may you also bring back that glory and start a new chapter in our own automotive industry.
you have a point there and that's sad really ... how come we have such narrow minded and petty leaders?Originally posted by HENG@:unfortunately thats not very viable. Unfortunately, yes.Originally posted by euphratis:Next generation will be brain drained. Singapore cannot survive.
hmmmm .......Originally posted by king108:Frankly speaking, I would have migrated if no for my aged father living with me who cannot speak other languages and wanted to die here.
Unfortunately, we got nowhere to retreat after 3 generation since my granddad here. With so many foreign talents here and outsourcing jobs going on, I can't see anything that can improve our life unless working in a government companies or be the humble servant to serve all singaporeans.

I know it is difficult for me to make it here, as my business are dominated by big players who can affort to lose money to get ride of competitor.Originally posted by sgdiehard:if they can't make it in singapore, they don't even qualify as "FT" in those countries.
you are being humble, many of those FT may have more paper qualifications but many I know hardly have 10 yrs of working experience, and some of these experience are not even relevant. In the end, the old guards in the companies ended up doing the jobs.Originally posted by king108:I know it is difficult for me to make it here, as my business are dominated by big players who can affort to lose money to get ride of competitor.
I had never classified myself as a "Foreign Talent", I will go there either to set up shop or do my business, networking for investment. Else retired peacefully in the country side.
Please don't name me a "talent" cause I only got a Honour degree in Mechanical Engineering in UK and ten years working experiences.
I am not even at my 40, sad to said so. In USA and UK, there still have something call social welfare system for jobless (although I don't encourage) no here.Originally posted by sgdiehard:you are being humble, many of those FT may have more paper qualifications but many I know hardly have 10 yrs of working experience, and some of these experience are not even relevant. establish something you can call your own before you hit 45. Once over 45 if you lose yr job you are not likely find one. My friend living in Saint Jose said those without job and spending the whole day at the gym are getting younger and younger. Its the same everywhere, worse are the developed countries, such as america.
I partially agreed on this statement. If u look at Hong Kong people n Taiwanese, they go to US to open their restaurant. In San Francisco's chinatown, the dim sum restaurant, the chef or the waiter come directly from HK n quite surprised cause if u look at it, HK is similar to Spre in the sense it is a successful economy n one of the small dragon. How come people in HK still want to go US to work as waiter? In Spore, majority of the waiter, retail personnel mostly from Malaysia. I hardly seen Sporean going to America or Canada to start work as waiter or retail personnel.Originally posted by sgdiehard:if they can't make it in singapore, they don't even qualify as "FT" in those countries.
I do agree with your point of Hongkee and taiwanese, they are able to work together because of their culture and unity when they are out of their hometown. Even their triad (ganster) member also the same in foreign countries. (You don't see any angmo or asian inside). They give a helping hand to their fellow country man when they are in needs. (Especially hongkee and taiwanese, malaysian too). Most owner of the restaurants are Hongkee and malaysian as chef for some. You don't try it with singaporean, very few will help you out.Originally posted by will4:I partially agreed on this statement. You needed to be qualified for migrating to other countries. You can try the Australia which I am qualified. If I sell my house here and withdraw all CPF, the amount exceeded. My qualification and working experience is relevant to their and there is a demand for it. There are some questionaire to fill up and the immigration custom will need to access.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:I want to migrate becos I want to help gov save that 1 piece of voting paper, if I get to vote that is.
I curious as what kind of work those Sporean get when they migrated to other countries? Not everybody get work as white collar personnel.Originally posted by king108:I do agree with your point of Hongkee and taiwanese, they are able to work together because of their culture and unity when they are out of their hometown. I had experienced both good and bad, considered very lucky to met some offering helping hands. Thanks to those who lifted me when I am in needs.
The problems that singaporean no taking services job is mainly due to the pay, long working hours, no nice uniform and maybe pride for some. This not entirely their faults, it is the way that they were brought up. For a foreigner to work in singapore, the amount received to him or her can be multipled depends on when he came from
a) Malaysia - 2.3 times
b) China - 5 times
Then we compare their pay to those of the same line back in their own countries which could be even more. For your information, a production worker in Zhejiang may be only 1500 RMP (lodging, meal clothing and washing included) about S$300. And in Singapore, he may get a $1000 including overtime = 5000 RMP and with control spending and some sidelines. He is earning like a assistant manager back home. Tell me why no? Heard of "Wenzhou".
How can a singapore work for $1000 and after deducting $200 CPF, he is left with $800 and minise lunch - $150 / transport - $100 / clothing - $100 / $100 -4D and Toto. He is only left with $350 to go thru the next month. Can he have a decent life?. Let me tell you, he is still cleaning the floor while I am typing this sentences.
The problems is that this trade is giving our local young chap a very bad impression of poor pay dirty prideless jobs. As a result only those retrenched 40+++ took up the jobs. By then, they are stuck with their family here. So they can't fly.
Only big chef make it oversea either by deployments or headhunter, you don't see them much often. Worst, some are 1997 Hongkee migrated Singaporean.
I think for person with family member like urself faced problem when u wanted to migrate esp like u mentioned ur father prefer to stay here. I think the same for uncle in Indonesia wated to immigrate to Australia cause Indonesia is a not a stable country many problem like corruption or rampant crime. He is a married person n he still planned to go to Australia. Local young chap here never realized sometimes they think life is easy outside of Spore n to tell u one thing, met withOriginally posted by king108:I do agree with your point of Hongkee and taiwanese, they are able to work together because of their culture and unity when they are out of their hometown.
