Exactly my pointOriginally posted by Gazelle:fymk, for you to quote Optus as an asian company it is really pathatic you know. wasnt it a white company untill it was sold to Singtel?

Exactly my point. Didn't you even comprehend what I was saying? I was pointing out that you were WAY WRONG about Australia being racist . Don't try to cover up your ignorance by calling me pathetic.
I am no white supremacist since I am asian. I am happy for asian and white companies to do well in Australia because it is advantageous for everyone in Australia.
Bing Lee is actually quite a big business in Australia . It did very well despite being Asian. Shark Fin house is owned by Asians and it is also a million dollar business. RAMS homeloans is actually owned by an australian of lebanese descent and it is a multimillion dollar business. Crazy John ( a telephone dealership franchise) is owned by an australian of nonwhite descent and it is also a multimillion dollar business. So what does that tell you? Australia is not that racist as you say it is .
So what if alot of us are not as rich as James Packer . As long as we are happy where we are and satisfied with the money earnt , it's all good. My question to you is that of why are you trying to list out all the rich ang mohs for comparison? Even to get to the multimillionaire status is difficult. OH WAIT ....Don't tell me you did so well in Singapore that you are as rich as James Packer in Singapore .
tsk tsk personal attack on me again . Does that make you any better with throwing racist remarks at me using a degradatory remarks on another race ?Originally posted by Gazelle:James parker? you mean the one that lost out to Genting in the Sentosa IR bid?If I want to be rich, I would rather be as rich as lim goh tong li ka shing or robert kouk, rather and james white phuck.er because I aint no white coc.k sucker like you.
In Australia, justice is done to help those minority victims compared to Indonesia. During the May 1998 riots, many Chinese properties kenaOriginally posted by Gazelle:and you are comparing australia to a third world country. So whats the diff?![]()
At least in Australia if not wrong, those white Australian rioters got sent to court compared to the rioters in the 1998 Indonesian May riot. AustralianOriginally posted by fymk:Yup . Cronulla started off that way by lebanese gangs of youngsters. After the Cronulla incident , you have the Marouba incident where a group of youths with middle eastern appearance started damaging people's property ( cars and houses). Their so called excuse was to get back at the caucasians for Cronulla.
Besides lebanese , you have the minorities :
Let me tell you what an australian rapist of pakistani said in court (somewhat to the effect) : they ( the girls) were dressed indecently. In my culture , it means that I can have them.
No surprise it angered alot of people with that statement even their own muslims. An australian- nigerian muslim who said the same thing to my colleague. She was dressed in a single top and a long dress.
All these people are a shame to their race and a shame to their religion when they hide behind religion/race as a reason fror their behaviour.
Frankly I think the whites have been too apologetic in their behaviour. I support a move like France to ban all religious symbols (islamic/judaic/christian etc) in school and the Netherlands to ban the burqa.
If they don't like to integrate in Australia, there is always the middle east/africa/Pakistan to return to.
Adding on: Bentley-Carlisle, Willagee-White Gum Valley and Hilton-Coolbellup in Perth.Originally posted by fymk:Are you saying that if there is a place with high crime rate at night , you will actually walk into it? That does not make cow sense when you are talking about personal safety.
I have not been to Adelaide so I don't know much to comment on about Adelaide .
I know Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne well enough to know which areas I should not venture at night or even day. For example : When I was living in Sydney , Redfern was the area to avoid in Sydney : it is an aboriginal majority area with a high crime rate day or night.
I won't go in there and neither will others who can avoid it when they can. So does that sound like I am confining myself to a certain place in the country just because I am an immigrant especially when you have sydneysiders avoiding that area as well? Or is it because I rather feel safe ?
Willeton & Canning Vale also have high burglary rates. The worst are in Thornlie and Gosnells. All areas are in the south-eastern region of Perth.Originally posted by fymk:no . HAHAH Gazelle - slip of your tongue?
Don't put words in my mouth .
Those were examples of why you won't want to go into crime infested areas . Another example : Cabramatta in Sydney, huge asian population , High crime rate. Crimes there are perpetuated by asian gangs against other law abiding citizens. And no I am not saying all vietnamese are criminals either. Blacktown - high crime rate - a house gets broken in at least once per week or so.
Those are the most notorious places in Sydney . My point being you won't want to venture into places where there is a high crime rate in relation to your news articles.
I encountered some really friendly people in Busselton when I made a road trip there last week. I drove my friend's car to get some supplies. On the return trip, car couldn't start all of a sudden. Some guys asked if I needed help, and I told them my problem. They drove me back to the motel to get my friend. Along the way, they spoke about "small town hospitality" despite my feeling bad about giving them trouble. The whole incident had a happy ending.Originally posted by 798:actually it's just a discussion, i myself personally feel the majority of the white in australia are racist too. but there will be pple in australia who are friendly too.
Work politics exists everywhere. It isn't any better in Singapore.Originally posted by fymk:Not really. They just don't like show offs. You can do better as long as you don't show it.
However in terms of work politics , most of the time it is everyone for her/himself.

It is very true. Many Aussies are extremely racist.Originally posted by Gazelle:We are aware that racism exist in Australia, but is it high medium or low? From what I was told, racism problem in Australia is one of the highest among developed countries. Is that true?
And how do you deal with the situation when someone insulted you in the public. Do you just look away and pretend you dont hear him or do you defend yourself by getting into some kind of fight or some agressive verbal exchange?
