Ahhh...lets see..."the mechanically scanned ECR-90Originally posted by YourFather:Uhh, RSAF, u noe, i dont think we should get the Rafale... it was developed by 1 country, whereas the Eurofighter was developed by Germany and Britain as well as others... I do believe that the developmental budget for the Typhoon should be larger (can someone confirm??)...which means that capability should be(logically) more advanced. Furthermore, the French have the penchant for overstating their capabilities.. not so sure that this id true for the Rafale as well, but I seriously doubt the Rafale has active cancellation( come on... if it was that simple, how come USA cannot develop a similar system with their R&D budget, which is bigger than the defense budget of China?)
Anyway, the above is all speculation and does not mean nuch, so let's go on to what we know... the Rafale is underpowered in HOT and HIGH areas, as i have said and was confirmed by someone else too... can you imagine what that means with the additional weight of CFTs and with the same bomb-load ad the Typhoon? Also, its radar. Passive electronically scanned array. not bad at first glance. then comes lousy signal processors. Trouble. due to so much interference from the signal processors, the potential range of the RBE2 is severely reduced, such that it is said the mechanically scanned ECR-90 CAPTOR has overall same performance standards as the RBE2. Thirdly, the Eurofighter comes with goodies like Meteor and tech-transfer(yummy!).... i'm not so sure if they do come with the Rafale .... as for AGM capabilities of the Typhoon, isn't the world's best strike fighter a derivative of a no-compromise air to air fighter???
Malaysia military sucks. everyone knows it. your own country men knows it. any cock can just walk into your stinking camps and pretend to be a colonel...and walk aways with your guns.Originally posted by RMN-Best:what u guys know about war??? what u guys know about Malaysia military?? let me tell you guys this.... YOU THINK mALAYSIA IS SO EASY??? FUCK YOU MAN!!! YOU WILL ONLY KNOW DURING WAR TIME...
I don't think Malaysia is easy. I think its WAY easy with dumb fucks like yourself. Jane's rate Singapore's military as one of the BEST in the region, what was that said about Malaysia's? "What Malaysia?"Originally posted by RMN-Best:what u guys know about war??? what u guys know about Malaysia military?? let me tell you guys this.... YOU GUYS KNOW FUCK???

Err, sorry, maybe u r a little confused(or is it me :-> ). The Rafale is NEVER slated to get the CAPTOR radar, only the Tranche 1 and (i think) Tranche 2 Typhoons get them(not confirmed... if all goes well, Tranche 2 sircraft may well get AMSAR too)... I believe you got the Captor mixed up with the AMSAR radar, which is an AESA currently being co-developed by France, Germany, England blah blah, as a replacement for the RBE2 and the CAPTOR. And the Typhoon Tranche 3s as well as the Rafale Mk2s(not so sure on this one) will get the AMSAR. apparently, the French Govt selected the AMSAR over an upgrade of the RBE2.... sure must mean thet the RBE2 offers a little something less rite?Originally posted by rsafpage:Ahhh...lets see..."the mechanically scanned ECR-90
CAPTOR has overall same performance standards as the
RBE2"...but wait...the Typhoon is slated to be equiped
with the very same CAPTOR *4 years* after the Rafale
gets it!
The French have admitted themselves that the current
M88-2 is underpowered, particularly for hot and high
conditions, but have already stated that the export
Rafales will come with the M88-3 which gives up to 15%
more thrust, which *will* better the Typhoon until a
newer engine comes online in 2010.
TRhe French have already stated that Rafale customers
will get full tech transfer, weapons integration with
the newest ordnance(of any origin), SCALP/APACHE, full
in-country training(simply an extension of AJT in
Cazaux for our case)
"isn't the world's best strike fighter a derivative of
a no-compromise air to air fighter???"
Admitedly, you're right in the above statement...but
wouldn't everything coming together as one make an
even greater package? Why have 2 masters of 2 trades,
when you can get a master of both? Have you
considered parts commonality of the F-15C vs the E?
Why do you think the only foriegn operators of both AD
and strike versions of the Eagle(Israel and Saudi
Arabia) are recepients of HUGE US military aid, cos if
they don't, they wouldn't be able to support both
Eagle versions.
BTW, and should Typhoon get Meteor, so would Rafale...
Singapore uses the DPICM.... each arty shell bomblet can devastate an area of approx. 250 m2 of land, destroy every living things and armor vehicle with over 600 sharpners...Originally posted by Shotgun:ICM = Improved conventional munitions.
What it does, I have no idea. Usually ICMs come in 2 flavours. APICM, Anti-personnel ICMs, and DPICM, Dual-Purpose ICMs.
What Kinda ICM Singapore has, I am totally clueless.
As for the FH-2000, officially it fires the M107 155mm rounds. The rounds have extended range, how much, I don't know. Any idea on the range anybody?
With the presence of the Bionix chassis, i cannot help but wonder the possibilities it has brought. Singapore an easily build a self-propelled MRLS system, using the Bionix's chassis of course.
Why worry? They have to pacify IMF and their lenders first.Originally posted by YourFather:people, indonesia's going to get SU-30s leh, in addition to other stuff.... why they so poor already still wanna spend money on such extravagant stuff, look at the state of their economy.... dont u guys think they should build up their economy first?
From my understanding, it will be difficult to get the two different systems to talk to each other. I don't mean to discredit the Russian SAM, but it has not been tested in actual combat, unlike the stinger.Originally posted by Shotgun:I've always felt that a Russian SAM, combine with a western Radar would make a deadly combination. Any objections?
We can use this opportunity to slow down the arms race before it gets too out of hand. Sure the Astros II is a deadly system, but since we already have a way to curb it, why not play Mr. Nice guy and "take the lead" in slowing down the Arm's race?
During Operation Deliberate Force(1995), it was believed that the missile which shot down a French AF Mirage 2000D over Eastern Bosnia was a SA-18 "Grouse"(Igla-E) MANPADS, the very type used by Singapore.Originally posted by Thunderbird:I don't mean to discredit the Russian SAM, but it has not been tested in actual combat, unlike the stinger.

Yup! I'm wrong, meant to say AMSAR instead of CAPTOR for Rafale radar. If, by your reasoning, then there must be something lacking in the CAPTOR too, since the Eurofighter consprtium aren't even bothering to upgrade the CAPTOR and choosing AMSAR instead. Personally, I feel that replacing CAPTOR of RBE2 doesn't mean theres something wrong, just that AMSAR represents an improvement over current radar technology.Originally posted by YourFather:Err, sorry, maybe u r a little confused(or is it me :-> ). As for engine power, no worry! EJ200's successor will be the EJ230, which will boast a 20% increase in thrust.
