hey INDIAN, whats ur objective of all those verbal abuse. We are discussing here,not launching personal wars. I understand malaysian parliamentary discussion often land up heated discussions. Dey mama, u mus understand that both singapore are closely related. Either 1 of us attack the other side, it sure give trouble to both side.
You must realise that johor is abt 2km away from singapore. That is a beautiful range for our artilleries and fighters. Do take note that the water station is the property os Singapore Government. Jus like KTM belong to malaysia but situated at tanjong pagar train station. Singapore will nv want to go to war,not even a small conflict but we will be more than ready to inflict devastating damage to any potential aggressor.
I suggest u stop ur flaming remarks. Its not good for healthy discussion -

It is a sad pity that this topic hints at Singapore and Malaysia going to war, and it does not help a single bit with the ageing Malaysian PM making his senility obvious when he was reported to have said that Singapore’s continued construction at Preda Branca (Pulua Batu Puteh) will require Malaysia having to protest strongly and “short of going to war” in its effort to reclaim possession of this island rock.
There are at least Thirty Percent of Singaporean families with relatives in Malaysia, and there must be at least Ten Percent of Singaporeans who have spouses from Malaysia – and vice versa.
It was heart warming when I had the opportunity to speak to two children from such a Malaysian-Singaporean marriage, when I asked them if “they would consider themselves Malaysian or Singaporean?”
From a five-year-old child whose father is Malaysian-Malay and the mother is Singaporean-Malay, the reply was that she is a “Malay” person – neither Malaysian nor a Singaporean.
From a four-year-old child whose father is Singaporean-Chinese and the mother is Malaysian-Chinese, the reply was that she is a “Chinese” – neither a Malaysian nor a Singaporean.
Two children queried at two separate occasions, and both speak innocently from the heart without any sense of hippocratic diplomacy but with pure innocent honesty.
We are all from the Human Race, in this age of interdependence it is madness to speak of wars when there are other more sane way to resolve issues.
It will be different when someone shoves and pushes instead of standing to reasoning and logic; but until then, why involve us with the lowdown behaviors of the few low brain warmongers.

This thread is jus a discussion on a frictional war with malaysia , there is not part of it which indicate a war is coming , however it came to an uniform agree from Singaporeans that we have the ability to shake off Malaysia in crisis.
Toking abt the puny island dispute . Sigh ( louder ) . The disagreement between SIngapore and Malaysia is already sibei chiam liao somemore now they ass-itchy come up with the protest letter on the island. Sometimes i really dunno wat the malaysian PM is thinking.
My opinion on the island is that . Both countries are toking abt face more than sovereignity here. That island , i cant really cannot think anymore reasons y is the lsland a important pie for Singapore. ( pls enlighten mi if u have any idea )
Firstly there is no natural resources on the island.
Secondly there is no stratigical advantage on the island. The route to south china sea is very big, without the island , SIngapore still can move into the SCS without a problem. I had tot that the SAF is planning to build a survellience site there , however with the small island size and with the availablity of AWACs and LALEE , the island is not needed.
Thirdly there is no economic/social advantage on the island.
If singapore is to take arms for the island , i will say it is not worth. If malaysia will to wack us , i will take up arms without hesitation. However to fight for that island , that we really dun need ........

If the island determine Singapore water UN will take into consideration , which may deem the island as Singapore's sovernrity. If so , a war isnt needed.

It was somewhere…. 7-8 yrs ago… and b4 we go… msg was flicking clear to us…”NO ONE FROM MALAYSIA IS ALLOW TO STEP ON THAT ISLAND!! But wat i mean is that if UN deem the island malaysia's , wat can Singapore do then , i will disagree to take up arms . Even if malaysia move in now , i will rather prefer Singapore to use the international commette to give malaysia the pressure to leave the island and at the same time , complain the shit out to UN , making us the good guy rather then the bad guy who intrude first.

This “little rock island” was controlled and administered by Singapore for over 130 years, and Malaysia has always accepted this arrangement up until 1979 – when someone from the Malaysian side woke up from their sleep and decided to add this unfounded claim to their list of claims against Singapore in the tit-for-tat exchange of issues to be resolved.
In a similar dispute between Indonesia and Malaysia over their cross claims for the rights of ownership over two islands in East Malaysia - Pulau Sipadan and Pulau Ligitan – the International Court of Justice had ruled in favor of the Malaysian Claim.
The decision was ruled over the fact that Malaysia had the effective administrative control of these islands for the last 100 over years, and was not based on the Continental Shelf geographical demarcation, nor was the decision based on historical treatises dating from the Colonial Days with the native Sultanates of that area, nor the treatise between the Dutch and English Colonial Rulers to mark their lines of controls in South-east Asia.
Based on this background, it is little wonder that Singapore has stood firm in insisting that Malaysia bring this matter to the International Court of Justice.
It is also not too difficult to understand the reluctance of the Malaysian Government to quickly put their signature to an Agreement to bring this matter to the International Court of Justice – when they had agreed with the Singapore Government to do so since 1998.
It is also not too surprising that the Malaysian PM in his brilliance prefer to resort to rhetoric and make statements to the media to whip up the emotions of Malaysians over this matter, and to distort reality in their own favor.
This matter is not just about a little rock island that is more then 4 hours travel by boat from the Singapore shore line, as its significance is the strategic location of the island that allow us a toe hold access to the South China Sea; and from which we can monitor traffic that traverse this strategic sea way (see the photo in www.thestar.com.my December 25 edition in which you can see the new constructions of microwave relay stations, and some ‘sigcom antennas’).
The mistake in selling away the Christmas Island (located in the Indian Ocean – just off the west coast of Indonesian Sumatra) back in the early 1950’s will not be repeated.
The Christmas Island was similarly administered by Singapore then, and was sold by the Lim Yew Hock Government to the Australian for a sum of S$2.00(??? I stand to be corrected); and the Australian Government then leased the island to a mining company that mined the phosphate rich island for over 30 years and generating revenue of over a billion times the amount that Singapore was paid.
When “push comes to shove”, we should be prepared to shove when the other side do not wish to be reasonable and logical but decide to play tough. -

eh pls lah , i mean if the UN officially deem the island belong to malaysia , we cannot do any thing but to sit down and feel pity.
If malaysia sent her bloody kao army into the island now , then fight it back lah. Im sorry to say it is not worth it ( compare to an attack on homeland ), as the UN court have not official deem anything yet. However if the crisis is needed , i did not say i will not fight for Singapore.
War isnt the best choice in crisis . On ur statement in the past threads , it seems that almost every crisis u like it to be solve with violence . Malaysia isnt stupid to sent her troops in now, to be deem as the bad guy and face with Singapore , a stronger opponent. If malaysia will to sent her troops , there are other measures to use.
The best measure , is to complain to the UN and force malaysia out of the island , without casualties on our side. If she dun give a damm , then we will wack with all means. Wining conflicts dun always need force , u can use other ways to win it without force and casuaties. By complaining to the UN , they could be seen as a bad guy , thus maybe we are in a more fravourable site.
If she will to sent her troops now , then by all means fight if the govt calculated it to be worth. But b4 the UN official says anything , i susgest both country relax.
