Sky Wu and Jeff Chang's concert on 11 Sep 2004:
The concert by Sky Wu & Jeff Chang was one of the best concerts I had ever been to. They sang a lot of old songs, bantered a lot with each other and left the fans in stitches and their voices were in tip-top condition.
Thought it would only be 80% full, since I had no idea whether they still had any pulling power. Not that I had to worry for them, because the whole indoor stadium was filled up. Sky Wu was the jester, and really a live wire throughout, which rubbed off Jeff Chang as well, because he appeared much more playful than his previous concert some 4 years ago. Fans were responsive to them, and when mics were directed towards the audience, the whole stadium was singing along with them, much to everyone's delight. Even I was amazed how everyone seemed to still remember the full verses to the many songs which were more than a decade old. Perhaps these songs had been with us through our best and worst growing-up times, so much so that they had become a big part of our treasured memories. All the songs still sounded so familiar to us like when we first heard them years ago. Everytime I travel on highways during evenings or cloudy days, I always recall "Ji Mo Gong Lu". When we celebrated our graduation, we never forgot to sing "Fen Xiang". When we talked about how local compositions were popular overseas, we always remember that Jeff was one of the few foreign singers back then who believed in our local composers - "Ai Ru Chao Shui" and "Teng Ni De Xin" by Roy Li Fei Hui, "Tai Xiang Ai Ni" by Jimmy Ye...and not to forget "Bie Rang Qing Liang Nan" with Fann Wong.
So many memories, so little time. 2+hours flew past quickly, and there was not enough time for songs like "Rang Wo Wang Ji Ni De Lian", "Qing Niao", "Shou Zui", "Duo Xiang", etc, but we certainly enjoyed ourselves very much. Hope they can come by again for a 2nd instalment. Cheer on, Sky Wu & Jeff Chang
