Personally, I feel that there is no need to bring anyone along... there is no need for pretense... cos ultimately you must know why you are doing that ( to give her your blessings or to show her that you are better off without her(by bringing a pretty girl along)...
If you feel that your ex really hopes you could attend but you couldn't face the situation, meet her earlier to pass her a wedding gift...

My fren received an invitation from a crush yesterday. She was very sad cos she was the "last one" to know, even though it was not meant to be that way. She happened to miss a previous outing when he announced it.
BTW, she is getting married too...but somehow I feel she still has feelings for him.And she is comparing herself with that girl, that she is prettier, her husband is more eligible, she has a bigger ring, the girl is not popular among frens and colleagues etc...
It's natural for us to make ourselves feel better by comparing and not wish them well...however, let's make a very conscious effort not to do that... who knows, by not bringing a partner, you might get to know some pretty, nice girls..
