As mentioned by a few earlier on, Love emcompasses Lust... but Lust does not emcompass Love. This statement has got to be true or else mankind will come to an extinction. Imagine the following scenario...
Wife: Dear, let's make love. I wish to have a baby.
Husband: No sweetie, we cant make love. I dont lust after you. I only love you. My didi doesnt stand at all when i see u naked in front of me..
Wife: *Faints*
Maybe if u guys out there still dont get, let us replace "Lust" with "Sexual attraction"... There cant be love without sexual attraction. -

Humans are born sexual. We like to be touched, to be caressed and to be felt by the ones we loved. When we get close to somebody emotionally, everything moves forward - we get intimate physically and spiritually.
Sexual energy flows from each and every one of us and directed outwardly via biological and physical reactions. And if there is any stultifying effort to hinder this flow, the pent-up energy will grow into sexual frustration and affects the emotional structure, which is heavily tied up with our sexual well being.
In astrological, our planet Mars governs our reaction to sex, while Venus is the aesthetic beauty of Love. Some people have vehement sex drive partially because their Mars is strong (or heavily connection with sign of Scorpio), while some others have suppressed sexual state, where they are unable to release this natural flow of energy and somewhat hinders and place an 'advancement ceiling' in any form of relationship. While there could be many reasons for this; I would safely say that it is usually due to our early childhood development that forms the rudimentary attitude towards sex.
Sex is a natural expression of Love and like Love, it can be abused.
When our higher octave planets are not helping and we degenerate to our animal instinct, Love is blinded by our animal instinct, which we understand as Lust.
This is not an exception to man's case; even woman could abuse them.
And this is also another favourite element often projects in a karmic relationship.
Many marriages are concluding because there are unresolved sexual frustration occurring. By restricting or limiting our natural expression, we place limits on our relationship.
Understand as you explore Love and your own sexuality. Don't inhibit or abuse your natural expression as it could damage your psychological attitude sex.

The law of nature(natural) have remain constant.
Good and evil are just a thin lines in a person's thoughts.
Humans are the only living being that have this ability to turn what is good and beautiful to ugly or unwhole thoughts. It is always easier to talk, difficult to respond clearly when situation comes. -

Why does it reminds me of the question, "Chicken 1st or egg 1st?" What you've stated in your above post is a rather 'standard' human's strand of thoughts and study... Especially so in terms of empirical science... SCIENCE, as itself would implies... Probably would be studying on the QUESTION of 'reproduction' than 'love'.... In fact, you should quickly realise that 'love' is hardly a subject of its studies other than the more limited objective forms and definitions... And no no... I'm not saying science is wrong in stating love in those ways... But it's just one form of looking at things... And since 'reproduction' before the 'love' is the central subject of study, the latter is often seen as a 'by-product'.. Thus the question of "Chicken or egg 1st?" And this phenomena has been explicitly seen throughout human's history... How humans used to think of themselves (or Earth) as the central of universe.... Just because they've been studied 1st... (especially in philosophies...) In fact after all these years, though humans have slowly learnt that could be quite a big mistake... They often just repeat the mistake in different ways...
And it is INDEED TRUE that our 'intelligence' have allowed us to tag more meanings to 'love' these days... And in some cases, yes... Some 'definitive thoughts' are almost largely abused... But coming back to 'intelligence'... Isn't that also what makes you 'realised' today that love could be a evolved instinct of reproduction...? Rather than 'overly tagged' with meanings (common scientific belief), how about 'overly simplifying' of things...? (problem with empirical science studies) Especially during the 'early stages' of studies... Just seems to make things a whole lot simplier now... Doesn't it?
Hope you don't take all these discussions too personally... But sometimes to argue under the grounds of 'science', you've got to understand where it all comes from and where can it reach out to....
And now just a food for thought... Is 'love' really just an evolved instinct from reproduction to be belittled...? Or is it suppose to be an evolved instinct which could be leading us to somewhere further...? Think 'natural selection', 'evolutions', e.t.c.
