I had to burn midnight oil and dinner and sometimes forsaking sleep 2 weeks before my Os and hes complaining why his result so lousy
depression constantly...... it has been how many years liao...let me count.......1 not 2....not 3.....but a
full 6 years......(my gf oso come from a not so good family background; father gambler and physically abusive ; mother not well educated etc etc)
I have dried up all my energy finanically and emotionally to help her.....until i decide abt 2 months ago
to ask her to resolve her own problem....
she is constantly whining and complaining abt her misfortune ..... she acts as thou she is the no.1 victim and everybody
have to give in to her and gives her constant reassurance, help etc etc
My point is...sometimes its good to take a step backwards and let yr frenz deal with the problem on
his own.......... it may be harsh initially but for his good

Did we give up on you when you came to us in tears? We were there to support you, right? Yours was a genuine case, right?
I'm Not saying we were the direct cause of you becoming stronger, but even you took time to heal, correct? You also needed the support around you, didn't you?

I've always thought you're a very nice person, & very kind. But when this is a genuine problem, have you considered the possibility that this guy zi gan duo luo BECAUSE he thinks there is NO solution?
People look at how he's spiralling deeper & deeper into his problems, & more & more outta control, & write him off. Have you ever considered the fact that this boy is just a teenager?
I admit, I have a low tolerance for whingers, but frankly, I wouldn't give up on a young boy so easily when his attitude could have stemmed from the fact that his family is so dysfunctional.

I didn't dismiss that his attitude now stems from his family problems. What he needs now imho is professional help and perhaps a knock on his head. He needs waking up from his depression, as friends what we can do is really limited.... It's like how can we help someone whom doesn't even make the effort to help himself. He is finding a solution to settle all his problems, but his direction is wrong, what we can do is direct him towards there, not carry him over there.
Pup can continue to advise him and stay by him in his hours of need, but do take a step back when you feel he is spoon-feeding off you wor... Lending assistance does not equate to spoon-feeding.
I'm not the type that will give up on helping anyone de wor, but at least make an effort to the road of recovery, not plunging yourself deeper and deeper into the abyss -

it sounds as if you feel he's using you, using his depression to get what he wants... if that's really the case then slowly draw back....
but i do hope he gets some professional help before that -

In fact, my frenz have sat thru sessions and many sesions to hear me yada yada yada abt
how miserable i was...... until i decide to stop and
seek professional help at the advice of a frenz too....i have make every
effort to make myself recover from it (of coz with frenz support which i am grateful till today)....but for pup frenz....2 whole years
just seem too long with no or MINIMUM effort on his end to get himself out of it.....
(just like my gf whom i have help
and supported blindly for 6 draining long years, ).......
SHe is depending so much on me that her problem becomes mine too...
i dun want my boi to go thru that.....
Personally.....the initial stage as tough but i got out of it ......... i noe i may sound harsh....
but that was how i survive oso...i keep on scolding myself and reminding myself
that life will get better...... i am still emotional scared from my last relationship....
but again....thats only so much my frenz can do.......
if pup frenz dont help himself ....nobody can help him
I have learnt it the hard way...... since pup is kinda of lost to what he should
do....how dun try to let his frenz be until he wake up on his own instead......

Bringing in the professionals is the correct step here, because ultimately, this person is still a kid. He'll need someone to lean on emotionally. I won't even talk about him, but sometimes I also need to emotionally lean on friends. FAKE LARLING, Smudge, & many of you here have been a great emotional crutch for me when I need it.
Of course, at my age, I can jump on my own 2 feet quickly. However, my problems are small compared to this child. Pup, being a child himself, may Not be the most suitable emotional crutch. It's someone older, wiser, & stronger, who's able to help Pup's friend.
In this boy's muddled state, I don't think he even realises what he's doing. Too often, kids are unaware. You're right in that he needs professional help. But it doesn't mean that we can condemn him : )
