Yes, i agree. Its all about principles. Its not the amount of money that matters, as long as it is borrowed, it should be returned.Originally posted by FeowFeow:I think it's a sheer matter of principles. You borrow, you pay, simple as that. Money is hard-earned, & even if she didn't earn it herself, her parents slogged like hell to make that bloody $10/-. These kids think money falls from the sky & they're entitled to free money.

What is the main reason you cannot return?Originally posted by LinLing:Are girls REALLY getting that materialistic nowadays? *Sorry if I spell wrongly! Correct me later!*
I borrowed $10 from a friend. And it has been only TWO days and she has been pestering me for it. And to the extend of saying this:
"I don't friend you ANYMORE!
Ok. What is it with a mere $10?! A $10 CANNOT buy you that shirt you are eyeing for and that is BRANDED.
A $10 is enough to spoil a FRIENDSHIP though.

Am the sort who would ask my friend back for 10 cents if he/she borrowed from me, alot of people ask why am i so calculative and stingy, 10 cents also want.
But it matters because of principle. I am not stingy, calculative or poor, i am willing to treat my friends to a meal, or buy expensive gifts for them. But i don't expect anything back cos it was meant as a treat or gift.
Last but not least, i hate people who 'bui zhi dong', ie don't automatically pay back a loan and i have to ask from them instead.
I hate it even more when they say things like 'huh!? 10 cents u also want?!' This shows that these people don't have principles.
I once had a good friend who owed me 2 dollars, when he did not return me, i broke off our 6 year friendship.
But I didn't said "$10 mah, so stingy". I only said "Tomorrow, can?" And she hated me right away. =(Originally posted by Kenashi:
if u have $100 n someone owe u $10, u going to write off that debt??
pls get yr point straight on who is the debtor n the creditor first.
it is a matter of principles.
Once I loan $2 to a classmate in gd faith cause he said that he forgot to bring his wallet, when I ask him for the money back 2 days later, he said :
"$2 mah, so stingy"
I got pissed by that, after that incident, I condemned him.
I already TOLD her that I give her back in a week times. LOOK AT WHAT SHE IS DOING NOW.Originally posted by industrie:Yes, i agree. Its all about principles. Its not the amount of money that matters, as long as it is borrowed, it should be returned.

We already settled a dateline.Originally posted by drx:What is the main reason you cannot return?
Did you set a dateline for you to return the money?
Set a dateline with her and she will stop pestering.
Keep to the dateline and return on time.
I will like to say something about the hightlighted. Firstly, she had $20 in her wallet and she said she does NOT have ANY money and demanded for it back. And when I asked what about the $20, she said that was for going to NTUC later to buy groceries for the house. And I got this feeling she was lying because she said "Err.." before she said the sentence and gave this "faraway" look. Oh, now I remember. Last month, we went to the arcade together and she said she will pay me back the $30 I spent. STILL DIDN'T. Wtf is this?! Thank you people who reminded me. Go away to those who said I am a calculative/stingy or whatever person. SHOO. Just SHOO.Originally posted by Devil1976:Hmm... So many people already said so much liao... Need I say more...?"
Like they've said, it's about principles not materialistic.. Perhaps she might just be thinking that you're not having the intention of returning her the $...? And have you even explained to her why are you not returning the $ to her...? Like... Not forgetting that she's actually doing you a favor...? There's an old saying that goes.. "If you borrow and return, it's easier to borrow again... But if you borrow and not return... Face it next time you're in trouble..."
$10 itself won't necessarily spoil a friendship... It's just how people use it... If you don't wish to return it... Isn't it like your own doings to spoil a friendship..? Any valid reason...?
And... It's FUNNY that you've even mentioned the $20 in your friend's wallet...
What has the $ in her wallet got to do with your decision to return her $ back to her...? Even if she have a $100 bucks... Does that mean you would not return what you've borrowed..? If asking back for $ you lent is materialistic, then what does not returning the $ you've borrowed makes you...
How do you know if she doesn't have other important uses with the $20 in her wallet...?
Be GLAD that yuo even have a friend like this... Back in my school days, you would either have been REPORTED to the teacher or words would have quickly spread regarding you....
