i couldnt quote all but i still got a few questions to ask. i hope you guys can help me still...
so, does it mean everybody gotta bath naked? or can you leave ur boxer or underwear on and only take off when youre done? like most do at swimmin complex.. well, im not gay or anythin. but i dont really have a nice body, so understand why im afraid to show it off.
i guess im still worried about the swimmin part. maybe i will go and try siwm here and there before i enlist. when i was young, the instructor totally dont give a fcuk about me. "dont scared la. go on" and push me right in the deepest pool. what the fcuk man. i seriously i thought i was gonna die so young. so during NS, is the pool the deepest one? if i dont know how to swim, do they like let me train and with a float or something?
i totally agree with the making friends part and not tryin to be a smart alex infront of those big officer. thanks again guys for the advices...
but im still worried..... haha haiz...

there are no doors in BMTC. in unit they might have doors. in the beginning u might be uncomfortable, but when u don't have much time to bathe, u'll auto forget about it.

what priviledges there are? so its like i cant swim a certain distance, i cant go home? i really wonder if i cant swim till finish 2yrs, are they gonna keep me for naother 2yrs to swim.. wtf man ns.........................Originally posted by Devil1976:3. go learn swimming before your enlistment. the army trainers arent that nice.
during my BMT 2 decades ago i saw one guy cry throughout the BMT.
he was on the platform and they just pushed him. then a float was thrown into the pool. he sank to the bottom while everyone waited. he eventually came to the surface and started struggling. he was urged to swim to the float.
every lesson he drank a lot of water and panicked. amazingly he survived the training. but till the end he still couldnt swim.
but he paid a big price for not learning before enlistment.
i dont know if swimming lessons are still conducted the same way. -

Shit got door, Bath no door. Thats more or less the case since I enlisted last year.
Now swimming super safe one. You know the Safety culture. They will identify the non-swimmers and attempt to teach you. But don't worry won't die one. Not so easy to die also. Alot of safety guards and all your specs will look out for you one. At most 3-4 swimming lessons and thats it. Can swim or not also nebermind.
If got any instructor you super hate then well, just tell yourself when you get out, you are gonna work hard and make it big and next time see his face. Or at least thats what all my scholar frens tell me...

Don't worry too much about the swimming part... Like many have already mentioned... It's MUCH SAFER these days... At most you won't enjoy the lessons... It won't kill ya.... -

For swimming:
They'll conduct a CAT test (categorizing thing), those who pass will never need to go to the pool again.
Those who fail have to attend swimming lessons, while others get to slack in bunk, or do sai-gang. That's pretty much it. From what I remember, swimming lessons are still scheduled b/w 8 to 5, so you're not missing out on any night admin time etc, just less rest time in the day. No worries. =)
PS: Passing criteria is to swim 50m in satisfactory breast-stroke. Do not have to be proficient, so long as you don't appear to be drowning (or struggling excessively)! -

Don't worry la you're not alone, im enlisting around september i think since my PES is D and still pending. Most probably will be B and together we'll be suffering in the same 5hit hole.
btw im only 17.5yrs old -

Just listen to the command given by your OC, PS, SC, IC...
One thing die die must take note is how to handle your M-16, especially during range firing or you will be f... till you got extra/guard duty.
Don't anyhow fire or be a cuckoo shooter!
