4. You definitely don't have ADHD, perhaps super-low IQ.
5. I have a motto in life: those who look down on me must suffer..

Only you know best about yourself. No matter how much and what people say about you, it cannot change your intelligence. I understand your anguish. I have been labelled "stupid", "slow" by others when I was younger. I faced the same anguish , but I used it as my strength and motivation. However, most of these "others" people today are polytechnic or ITE graduates. Some are struggling at their undergraduate studies now. I am glad I have now established those people who used to look down on me are inferior. In fact, these people now look up to me. Do not let social pressure curb your intelligence.Originally posted by Isis:hey im born in the 80s... In my era, grades are everythings.. Do u know the stigma for people who don't do well... they r branded as stupid.. all of us are gifted and talented in someway but the system is moulded in such a way that they ignore people who are better off in sports, arts etc... though the system has improved much after my era... scraping away the position of schools as such... the stigma still lingers.
And to those who tink being physically or mentally handicapped are incapable and useless, pls tink again... some autistic kids are even more gifted than normal kids. Majority of ADHD are reported to be smarter but they have difficulties in some other function.
I never went for those support classes. I also never hear of such things in Singapore. I think what you need is just a general support group. Typically, many Christian cell groups perform this function very well. Do not forget your close friends. They are the best people to turn to for support.Originally posted by Isis:I cant still find anythings on adult adhd.. supportive system in singapore...
I do not encourage medication. The drug for ADHD is Ritalin. Ritalin not only causes personality change, but also makes the patient more susceptible to memory lapses and psychosis. I think it is actually bad for your examination. I never took medication. For me, sugar does the trick. I read somewhere that the brain cells of ADHD people consumes glucose much faster than normal people. I eat a lot of sweets when I revise for examination or actually to sit the paper. It actually works for me.Originally posted by Isis:N to geodome, did u take medication? I heard medication can mould ur personality whenever u took the medication.. people around u can be shocked of this personality change when u took the medication... for me, i try meditate.. it works for me gradually.. but i still have my up and downs.. i am still ponder whether i shld took the medication before my exam so that i can concentrate on studying better.

esp when it comes to diagnosis on medical symptoms related to the mind and behaviour..it is mostly through Q&A and some behaviour tests. blood or other chemical tests may also indicate deficiency in certain vitamins or bodily contents and thus doctors will prescribe medicines to improve the patient's health.
when i look at the symptoms of ADHD...its very easy for ppl who want to 'keng' to work on it.
its like 'i am sick...so things will hav to go my way'.
i am more concerned about helping ppl who are poor, lower educated and is struggling with their life, developing such syndrome.
as you can see from the 3 very prominent nicks here...they are very capable of defending themselves when they felt that 'they are being challenged" so its very hard for me to believe they used to be carries of ADHD or in fact has any indepth knowledge of ADHD.
i can provide a link on ADHD...i bet u can too. i can say 'Alex u know nothing about ADHD' just like that without any further explanation. its easy right?
It somehow affects the person's performance in total.Originally posted by missqi:but adhd does not affect intelligence right?

perhaps you are just a hyperactive fellow.Originally posted by Isis:ADHD is not like depression or social anixety problem.
i don't see why people tink they cld wana to pretend that they have adhd.. maybe some will, maybe some have mild.... i really don't know. but of course seeking expert answers might help to verfiy all there...
People who have adhd since young.. might develop some complicated psychological issues perhaps due to the environment or lack of understanding... some adult simply learn to grow out of it and manage the problem..
For me, i can't concentrate before exams. I cant stay @ one spot for long.. i prone to easily excitable and i get bored easier.. i can't listen well to others, as a results, i always have to ask my frens to repeat again...
yeah, the company made profits? then..?Originally posted by alexkusu:I ...was asking threadstarter bor..
One time, there was this pharmaceutical company who invented this drug to calm people nerves ( I forgot what issit called). They created massive marketing campaigns and created a new disorder called Social Anxiety Disorder or sth. The symptoms listed was difficulty breathing, blushing, redness in the face (classic signs of nervousness or just feeling flustered).
Needless to say, the company made a huge profit.

I was clinically diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 7. My form teacher recommended my parents to bring me to see a psychiatrist after I had caused severe disruption to classes several times.Originally posted by alexkusu:some people just read the signs and go 'Hei, I have ADHD!' when in actual fact, they dont.
How do I describe ADHD? Hmm... A normal person is akin to a desktop with Pentium 4 (2.6GHZ) with Hyper Threading (HT) enabled, 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Someone with ADHD is akin to a desktop with Pentium 4 (3.2GHZ) with HT enabled, 256MB DDR2 RAM and partially functional keyboard and mouse. When it comes to short term memory retention, the normal desktop is better because it has more RAM. When it comes to data input, the normal desktop is better because its keyboard and mouse are fully functional. However, when it comes to processing captured data, the ADHD desktop is better off because it has a more powerful chip. However, because of functional trade-offs, both the ADHD and normal desktops appear to be equally powerful.Originally posted by missqi:but adhd does not affect intelligence right?
