Yes, no one can forever be a loser or a winner. However, across the board, the average uni grad is still doing a lot better than the average ITE grad. The way you say those words make me imagine you telling your child, " Aiyah, why you study so hard? Study until ITE can already! just had dinner with a friend from uni days, this guy got offer even before graduating, mother super proud of him and looked down on his poly brother....then poly brother took to selling insurance and made it big, lives in landed prop with a beemer and this brother paid for friend's wedding...the mother now eat humble pie and live in the big house......don't get me wrong, my friend is a nice guy and has good relationship with his brother......just to raise a point that you make what you are, not some piece of paper.... -

To take this advice seriously and apply it in one's life is akin to telling someone to start crossing roads with his/her eyes closed since everything is pre-destined(if your time's not up, you can't die) or talking someone into putting his mortgage on the lottery on the basis there're people who have become millionaires overnight via the same channel... -
its funny but I wonder why parents don't learn that the quickest to way to ensure that your child tries hardest to BE with some person, is to disapprove of him or her.
Certificates are not important - attitude is. As long as a guy is down to earth, realistic (as they say 'jiao ta shi di'), AND have plans for the future, then he's not useless. Regardless of whether a person is a ITE drop out or a university grad, regardless of whether a person is changing tyres OR a manager - what's important is what does he really want to do with his time, present and future?
I know in your position, I won't split up with a guy becos of what my parents say. Which is why i gave my parents DAMN a lot of headache. For a long time I thought my parents were snobs who could not accept ITE folks(I was dating one when I went to uni), of course then I didnt give a damn but the rship didnt work out. However I was very concerned that they would disapprove of the man I eventually married (he also graduated from ITE)... yet, when they met him, they liked him a lot, and supported my decision.
That's when I realised that perhaps it was something ELSE they felt but did not know how to explain their discomfort - and ended up griping abt certs and all - because that is a lot more solid than griping abt character/first impressions and all. -
agreed. i dont think threadstarter mom want $$$ but she scared daughter no $$$ then got this problem got that problem. Most of the time parents are correct. But of course sometimes their opinion comes in their way...

I had a girlfriend where my mum disapprove.
But this time, its because of her finiancial background.
I talk to her that how much i like her but yet she still said NO.
I was very piss off but when i calmly think, its my happiness why should i let my mum stop me from getting my happiness.

A lvls compared to Diploma fighting for same job most likely the dip holder will get it due to A lvl's lack of experience and all talk no action. -

ITE drop out can also go do business, as long as he has the business mind and able to take risk lor.. of course need capital.

You should listen to your mum cos she is worried abt your future with a LOSER! Yes, your bf is a loser according to your mum and a lot of other ppl out there. Stop wasting your time and find someone more suitable for you, like uni grad.

Don't think it is an education level problem, it is very common hearing ppl give this comment, other than age, income and background. The real worry for parents is yr future. Considering too much doesn't really help, as there are alot of issue involve in building a relationship. Infact, in real life the major reasons for a r/s breakdown are incompatible and they don't really know how to handle a relationship, and it involve handling of money, family planning, personal emotion and other risk factor.
Having a good cert is a good start, but when come to love it can be blind. He/she can be IQ 100%, but come to EQ it's a big qusetion mark. One thing is when you are in a relationship, other ppl can see yr problem more clearly than you did. They can be wrong but a comment given is normally good to take into consideration.
