Omg, i totally agree with you!Originally posted by Quinsy:That's true. But sometimes parents just expect that since they pay for everything, you belong to them, you are their property and therefore is OBLIGED to do as tey want you to.
Dota wcg cannot lah, i still suck at dota actually..Originally posted by shade343:Instead of keeping your dad in the dark about those CS prize money, you shld be telling him about it and show him all the prizes you won. In this manner, you not only prove that you have got skill, you can also dispel any doubts he has on your ability. and if you can take part in wcg and win something.
And if you manage to acheive all these while still passing all your subjects, you can also prove to him that you are a good all rounder. And tell him that employers in future are looking to hire ppl who are all rounders and not just good at studying.
no, the motivation to study should not be your desire for freedom. (imo la) it should be towards an ambition or dream you have, a future career, lifestyle or position in life.Originally posted by gLc:I always thought that given the freedom, I would study hard.
Would u believe in that?

I dont know, at this point in time, i just wanna do things my way, i hate the feeling of how i envy my frens, whereas i have to go home. That feeling sux, the envious and jealousy feeling.
Yes, i cant agree more with you. But at this age, the desire for freedom can really lead me to killing my own studies. The envy of others, of how other teens my age can go where they want. It kills.Originally posted by Ito_^:no, the motivation to study should not be your desire for freedom. but it really depends on individual, there is no real right or wrong in this world. your parents believe in this formulae, so they simply follow it, believing its for your good. the intentions are there, and its respectable.
i always had to freedom to study or not to, so i won't understand the other side of the coin.

Thats why you need to convince your mum and dad to trust you in doing what you want and at the same time acheiving their objectives.Originally posted by Quinsy:That's true. Your dad sounds abit like my dad. He was rather strict with since young, but I have always believed that whatever my dad does is in my best interest. I think your dad probably thinks the same way too.Originally posted by gLc:No.. my dad has got extra locks, in which i dont have the keys to unlock them.
My bro used to say he had lived in tyranny last time when he was young.. Like how my dad would throw him out of the car at the tender age of 7 to walk in to school by himself..
You guys know when ure in Pri1, all the parents would walk their son right up to classroom, even standing outside to make sure their son is alright before leaving.. But this wasnt the case with my bro. Personal statements and eyewitnesses by my mum and bro to prove this. What sort of dad I have. But then again, he has improved much over the years and mellowed from his behaviour, but still.. he thinks he has a monarchy rule whereby he happy den put u to death, if not keep u alive, or just locked up//![]()
I have to applaud u if u can think that way ( what ever my dad does is in my best interest ).Originally posted by shade343:Your dad sounds abit like my dad. hmm...why not ask your mum speak to your dad about how you feel? Or organise a family council and discuss how you feel in an open manner?
OMG. MY MUM IS LIKE YOUR DAD. And she DOESN have an extra lock which I do not have the keys to too!Originally posted by gLc:No.. my dad has got extra locks, in which i dont have the keys to unlock them.

You know what I did? I rebelled and stayed out more often then they would like. Till early ams even. But I didn't play. Although I dressed like I was. I went to the library/friend's house/bf house to study instead.Originally posted by gLc:Yes, i cant agree more with you.
