I heard back in DB, you are worse than recruit? You've even to greet a recruit / lance corporal "sir". Degrading. Then there is the routine cavity checks in & out.
And its 99% physical training and more physical training. heard also (dunno how true), they use white canvas paint (those that you use on your canvas shoes in school days to make them white) and apply on your black boots to make them white. And march in those, yellow T-shirt, shorts, SBO, helmut and boots and carry sandbag. Its really like a torture, you carry (one or two? I not sure) walk to the other end, deposit, march back, carry again. Then go back to where you deposit the sand bag, repeat. So on so forth daily - morning & afternoon. Its repeitive, its mundane and its physically tiring.
Living is spartan, you got a mat and a mug and a T-shirt bearing a number. And you can expect to be treated like sh** inside.
Thats what I heard, ps do correct me if there's any inaccuracies. -

I would suggests that if you have any issue maybe you can bring it up to your PC, OC or OO?
Last time in Tekong I also struggle like hell (although I have not been participating in many of their activities due to my medical problem - 2 months+ later I was posted to a greener pesture - OETI). The 3rd day I was already scolded very jialat by the PS of another platoon and subsequently I kenna scolded by the sergeants many times in Tekong until I numb.
Just treat their scolding as a dog barking (no offences to Tekong 3SGs) will do.

The demographics for most AWOL cases and drug offenders in the SAF, at a glance, are hardly to do with them anyway. -

You need to be strong, i know how u feel, being alone, scared, punishment, bullied, but look on the brightside, Ns trains you up, to be a real man, those who have been to ns will know what i mean.
Although it may seem that 2 years are alot, and u will nt live through the two years, u are wrong!
u have been through a week now
so it's 7 days/730 days
that's about 1% of the whole army training
so in just 100 weeks, and it would be 100%
that's nt long, so don't worry.
730 if u deduct away the weekends and public holidays = 600+ days
which is less than 100weeks

I think its all in the mind. A good way is to chit chat with your platoon mates or bunk mates. I thot nowadays all new enlistees would be assigned buddies? Talk with him. At least he's in the same shoes and emphatise with you.
Also, theres the SAF Hotline where you can call anonymously to seek counselling. Likewise there's the OO - who outranked the PC. During my time, we were encouraged to seek help & talk with the OO should there be any problems.
And I agreed with all posted, its only BMT, it'll be over. Take it as a man and go through it. Everyone of us here went through it and I am sure the TS can do it.
And I am sure, some of us have gone through worse treatment and still be able to sit and type here...this is a testament that it is bearable. -
