nope, when a guy cries, he is giving himself up to the situation. instead of crying and whining, he should pick himself up and deal with the situation.Originally posted by shade343:Nope, restraining your emotions shows an unwillingness to communicate with your feelings. Such attitude is motivated by the traditional male ego that a male is always strong. The definition of strong has now expanded such that when a guy cries, he is now stronger because he has managed to overcome his stress by releasing it out in tears.
How does restraning emotions shows that you have a clear head? In fact, restraining emotions lead to much unhealthy behaviour later on when one loses control of himself due to immense stress and feelings locked up in the heart which leads to extreme mood swings and erratic behaviour.
do you need to cry to communicate with your feelings?Originally posted by shade343:Crying doesnt equate to asking for pity. It simply shows, you are a strong guy capable of communing with your feelings. And when you have emerged from your ordeal, you become a much stronger person. And that is what makes you a role model.
I think you have been influenced by the media into thinking that crying is associated with depression and giving up. That is not true. Crying is simply an avenue for one to release stress so that he would be able to put his mind into a better situation to think about his problems. Hiding emotions is unhealthy and causes unnecessary stress and this in no way helps or solves anything.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:nope, when a guy cries, he is giving himself up to the situation. instead of crying and whining, he should pick himself up and deal with the situation.
in fact, when you "appear" strong, you tend to get a morale boost and become stronger to a certain extent due to the image you are potraying.
restraining emotions allows u to priorities and judge which part of the situation needs dealing with.
the moment you cry, your mind starts to think that things are going downhill and all hopes will be lost.
i agreed that crying is a way of releasing stress, but it should be done in private like "killing kittens"![]()
Simply put, crying is a simplet yet effective action.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:do you need to cry to communicate with your feelings?
feelings can be shown in various fashions(which includes banging the wall, sprinting endlessly, shouting and even eating vigourously)
Banging the wall and eating vigorously is extremely unhealthy.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:do you need to cry to communicate with your feelings?

this is called temporary shock. Feelings will sink in later.Originally posted by Father Lim:i dunno lei.. i didn't cried when someone close to me died...

ya...guys dun cry unless there something really serious or something really upset himOriginally posted by browniebaobao:i think if a guy cries, he muz be feeling very sad... and i might be affected too..
I'll give him tissue, or even lend him my shoulder, my ears..
Normally when a guy chose to cry infront of you, it more or less showed he really trust you alot and confide in you too like how true friends does. So if he cries infront of you, (from my own opinion) you can either pass him tissue or wait for him to cry finish or cry with him.Originally posted by MooKu:Ok la ok la... I think you guys are basically split into two camps - can cry (SNAGs) & should not cry (um, traditional, stereotypical head of the household kind)... and both have reasons for their views.
You're both right, except... guys should not cry (or whine!) over little things, but they should also not keep it in too much...![]()

give him a nice big hug if you're hot. If not then get a friend who is.Originally posted by MooKu:We think we know what we can do when a girl cries.
But what do you do when it is a guy who is shedding tears in front of you?
And erm, usually what kind of reaction do you have?

But i'll rather have a bf who has mood swings (say smash bottle, overturn table, kick the pavement, punch the van) then cry.Originally posted by shade343:Nope, restraining your emotions shows an unwillingness to communicate with your feelings.
