so even if i told the police that my friend sign up under my name and he sell away the handphones and notebook, they still can do nothing about this?

There is little evidence u can provide. Without evidence, there is nothing much the police can do unless u can give them something concrete to base their investigations on.

TS, you're lucky to have the support of alot of forumers here, you will need to report your case to the police station and check for any remedies from the law enforcers. i'm sure your case isn't the first in Singapore.

I'm not that familiar with the law. Maybe u can consider going to read up on it etc.
As the others have suggested, u can still try to report to the police and see what they say. The worse senario is that they tell u that they can't do anything about it which won't make ur current situation any worse but if they can do something, ur situation might improve so just give it a try and try to look for someone who could give u some proper legal advice cos i dun think we have any lawyers in the forum.

u wont be sue till the money reach $10k till they snowball the interested
i believe they are willing to accept a monthly payment of $50.00 if u are willing to paid up the thing.
u have no bargin power with u because when u sign the deal, u already agreed to the condiction they set. reporting to the police will not help u much because of the paper that u have signed.
end of the day its either u ignore them till the bill snowball to $10k then they will take action on u
or be a man to accept the mistake and learn this lesson by talking to them and paid them some small amount monthly.
u sign the paper u be the man to accept that "U ARE CHEATED BY YR FRIEND"
who told u to be "Kpo" or act "haolian" to sign up for other ppl (might not be the case)
but end of the day is . U SIGN FOR IT, U PAY FOR IT.
come to this point, just to let u know that starhub and singtel / M1 are linked. and they have handle at least 100 same case as u every month. (some are out trying to con a free line while other are real.) they know how to handle u like the rest.

That said.I still think you should consult a lawyer or the police.Maybe we missed out something..We are not experts at this sort of stuffs.Rather than asking people who can't really help you alot..Might as well give a call for a law firm or police.I'm sure they will be able to fully answer you.

The amount i need to pay is already fixed and both the phonelines have been terminated after 2 months of signing up.

oh my gawd why did you do such a thing?! how can anyone be so gullible?! I have several rules in life and among them is NEVER EVER BE A GUARANTOR FOR ANYONE. I have another which is NEVER EVER LEND ANYONE MONEY. The first rule is more serious than the second.
But i broke the second rule once when I did loan someone $2k. It taught me a lesson. NEVER DO IT AGAIN.
Although he returned me the money, it took me a lot of nagging. And i even had to come finally come up with an excuse eventually to aid me in getting my money back. I said i had to pay for my annual insurance premium and was short of money (which is a lie). When the money is not someone's, they simply have a heck care attitude. When its theirs then they care.
