matching earrings? that's something new! haha...Originally posted by RainbowPrincess:That's nice of ur bf : ) 1 of my exes was like tt, but I told him I cldn't change, cosh tt's how I was brot up. As long as I wasn't overdressed, then it's acceptable...
For my guy now, sometimes we match each otherNOT the tacky matching lovey-dovey tees, but sometimes we match our earrings (yah, he has pierced ears
).

RP, same as me. I think we are all influenced by our family in some way or the other. My grandma was also very vain. She used to have her hair done in 'waves' Hhheeh.. cos she said straight hair is very ugly. But i didn't have a granddad so she dressed up for herself. The women in my family were always financially independent, that's why I get very depressed if I'm unemployed -> have to wear the suits somewhere!Originally posted by RainbowPrincess:Eh really leh, I mean itIt all started wif my granny, who took care of herself & looked nice for Granddad. She din overdress, but she made sure she took care of her appearance, for e.g. she wld NEVER dream of wearing shorts to a formal event (okie, I noe this is a stupid e.g. *laffs*).
Congrats on ur interview!!! : ) And do keep me updated on the jewellery, I haf frens here who like beaded thgs : )

Dress up to look better than appropriate and dress up for occasions are different things. Its not whether you wear shorts or slippers to formal events. Its more like how you dress and present yourself to others. In this case, i believe "vainpotedness' meaning presenting oneself to others, by looking better, which involves the fine selections of clothes and accesories, if necessary. Do you wear shorts to a restaurant? Do hawker centres have rules saying that you can't eat there because you're in a suit and tie? Imagine this scenario, you have some feelings for this girl and there's a group outing and she would be going. How would you dress? More to the occasion or more to present yourself better?
I don't see how RainbowPrincess "thinks very highly of herself". Can you list some examples? I mean i've read other threads in AA and she seems to help almost everyone who post some problems there. And not just mere giving a few words of concern, they seem to go through a lot of thinking processes. Does this seem to you that she treats others at a lower-class? Not to me at least.
No offence to you . Just my own opinions.![]()

There is nothing cute at all! I don't think my boyfriend looks good with my Gucci bags, so he can leave my tight tshirts alone. Thank you!Originally posted by Coco_Coco:matching earrings? that's something new! haha...

Speaking of which, this was a tale related to me by my ex-colleague
She was wif her fren & her fren's fiance in some kinda jacuzzi. The fren was wearing pads in her bikini/swimsuit (can't remember exactly, it's been too long) & they were happily relaxing when suddenly, her fren's fiance pointed @ 2 thgs floating in the water & asked, "Wat's tt?"
Yep, u guessed it, the silicon pads the fren was wearing had somehow been dislodgedShe was so embarrassed, but both the girls pretended they had No idea wat those 2 thgs were

How sad!! Yeah padded bras are so eeekk.. All the girls here make fun of me. Eh Ling, why bother wearing a bra, you've got nothing. I'm like.. shut up you big boob b*tch. Don't forget Kate Moss (ok, now she has some bumps), Kate Hudson (pre pregnancy) and Gynie!
That sounds like me rather than RP. Are you refering to me or what? I'm tired of people here condemning me cos i have so called expensive taste. So what if i do.. i don't care as long as i can afford it.Originally posted by :You did'nt quite answer the question leh... I dunch think anyone would go to a formal event in shorts! Harlow! My frens & I always sez'd there're 2 types of girls
1 type is more Vainpot when single to attract the guys. After getting the guys, they sorta lose steam
The 2nd type may or may Not be Vainpot when single, but once attached, they definitely grow more Vainpot
Then of cosh, there're women I admire like Lingos, special breed of girl : )

HAHAHah.. no ah, guys never dare say that. They just laugh and laugh that i'm flat. Usually it's girls at work. Hehehe.. they just like stirring me. If a guy said that, i'd probably deck them and run them over in my car.Originally posted by Yunhaier:Remember if a guy tells you that...
