quite frankly everyone hated the USA back at Indonesia.Originally posted by the Bear:without the US, there would be no serious conflicts? so what's your point?
thing is, you provide the money does not mean you own everything and can treat everyone else with total disrespect...
oh.. the US did not give ALL the aid.. but somehow, they managed to shovel out and earn ALL the disrespect
One day, the continent of Europe will rise again like a phoenix from the ashes. The Euro is trading at a higher rate than the US$. Even Dr Mahathir pondered about getting trading nations to switch to the Euro since it was more stable.Originally posted by ANG-MOH-LOCO:The Portugese, Dutch,Italians,Spanish, French, British and German have all had a go at world domination and colonisation of assorted parts of the globe , The only difference with the US empire is that it is usualy fought with the DOLLAR rather than the sword or fire power, Economic domination when the US it's self is in trillions of dollars of national debt is beyond my comprehention !![]()
I would prefer that they didn't show up at all. They were of virtually no help by ruining the shelters of the people and not giving a damn about air traffic.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Regardless, they were the one of the few who showed up.Care to tell the other powers what they missed?
Warts and all, the world needs the United States, for no other state has such a wide reach around the world today. It's heartening to hear the young Marines on board their LPD off Aceh saying that they rather help deliver rice than go to Iraq.
Hey I live a half hour north of the 49th parallel, America isn't that great. It's much better north of the border. The igloos are the best part!!Originally posted by skid:I'm an American and I think this is a great country. When I see topics about abusing prisoners of war and things like that it pisses me off and I tend not to believe most of those reports.
What do you think?
So.. in short.. make things simple.. u r implying tt they r f*ucked up..Originally posted by Guest_111:Hey I live a half hour north of the 49th parallel, America isn't that great. Well, you know most of the prisoner abuse reports are the ones with pictures have been admitted to be true by the current adminstration.
I don't know if you're aware of this but most people don't like the fact that Americans are blinded by their patriotism that they can't admit that they f*ucked up. Remember when your pilot shot up our guys on a training mission in Afghanistan? How long did it take you guys to admit it? More than a year later. And not before all the bashing and denial on major American networks and shows, especially FOX.
People what's the point of saying that you hate the President. He is just one American.. If you're going to hate, hate them all..![]()

All these while I thought I understood English. Until now! Had been trying to figure out what "kopiosatu" is attempting to say to readers.Originally posted by kopiosatu:quite frankly everyone hated the USA back at Indonesia.
The pilots got lost, they broke rules, they thought they owned the country, they perceived they were the ones in charge of the operation. Which the rest of the world didn't agree on and went on their own business, while they carried on with theirs without anyone bothering about them.
They conveniently decided to show how to crash a chopper and see the rotor flip up in the sky. Of all places they showed it to the rest of the world's military and civilians at the busy Bandah Aceh airport.
Any after the crash, no one was even sympathetic.

True. But at least the Canadians don't go around invading sovereign states just to take over their oil supplies.Originally posted by HENG@:with regards to the seal mudering business awhile back, u guys ain't that great either.![]()
The situation in Iraq is moderated by the fact that Lebanon has kicked Syria out, Kuwaiti women have earned the right to vote, the Egyptian govt has agreed to amend the election rules rigged by Mubarak, furthermore Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Libya have opened up in either the political or social realm.Originally posted by iveco:True. The USA started more fires instead of putting them out. So what if they overthrew the dictator Saddam Hussein? Their actions facilitated the rise of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. This man is extremely dangerous. Iraq is worse than it was under Saddam. We didn't have suicide attacks every other day when Saddam was in power, no matter how unpopular he was.
You have a point. At least the US can claim its meddling in Iraq had some positive trickle down effects in the region, despite the mess that Iraq is mired in.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The situation in Iraq is moderated by the fact that Lebanon has kicked Syria out, Kuwaiti women have earned the right to vote, the Egyptian govt has agreed to amend the election rules rigged by Mubarak, furthermore Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Libya have opened up in either the political or social realm.
America may not have done anything directly, but their toppling of Iraq's Saddam led these nations to walk a different path. This is one outcome that Bush cannot claim as his own.
