Ok people, this is getting fiery from how the topic flows. I am throwing my few cents of thoughts into Bar and hope that you people ain't turned off by my nagging.
Firstly I would like to say is that: regardless what anybody did - its not ethically right to call names to a particular race. You don't like to be called as 'blar blar blar,' neither do people - this has nothing to do with the topic, but just talking about the simplest kind of respect man of intelligence and EQ should have.
The next thing is that this conversation is about Bangladeshis touching girls during countdown and christmas eve. My stand is that - ITS OBVIOUS, that the risk of being touched/molest is extremely high - increased that threefold if the lady is pretty and has good figure. So its back to common sense - avoid places where it spells danger. People of ALL kind of race and kind (even seemingly nerd does that - don't be surprised man) touched ladies in such occasions.
I remember that I was at PS and Vanness (one of the guys in F4) was there. The whole scene was chaotic and was packed to the brim. In the end, a woman shouted molest. Can you imagine? It was broad daylight somemore.
The question is that - are you at the right time at the right place?
Rat suggested and challenge Master to a jokingly outing to Little India on sunday (it will be a myrid of indians around by then - 99% guys). The thing is that regardless of race - when you see a score of MEN hanging around - YOU FEAR your gf safety - not because they are of certain race - but because they are MEN and there are so many of them.
Love instinct will spark any's guy reaction to protect their female friends or girlfriends where danger seemed to be lingering. If you walked to the dance floor filled with guys and you are with only your gf, your will definitely hug her and dance or at least stay VERY close to her. This is your instinct - your automatic reactions.
The issue about oggling at girl - I feel its normal. Come on man - if I go another country, DEFINITELY I will check out the girls there slightly more because its a foreign country. You don't get to see them in your home country, of course lar.
The main thing isn't about pointing fingers, but more important, it is to discuss about how to reduce such situations from happening and how to handle if similiar case where to arise. Celebrate your countdowns in bars or disco - I think its still safer, although I maybe wrong. Always in groups and best still, go somebody's house and do the partying.
P.S: Bottomline is: Don't expose yourself to risk - late nights, alone, etc.

Reading your replies to these "racist", i would say that your messages come across as aggressive, even abusive at times.

Well....some of the replies a bit racist...but when I think of those "incidents" I had with these people before,trash the anti-racism man!!!
There was once when this sickening bangala actually flashed his tiny dick at my ex-gf and smiled!!! She screamed and he ran...We made a police report,but that sick loser still at large....as 1 of the forumite Dorian-X points out-they are well-camouflaged at night and all look identical!!!
Then got once,my present gf sitting down on bus service 147 which passes by little india.So very crowded...1 of these sickening bangalas standing beside her and he actually salivated on her!!! His smelly saliva landed on her area between her neck and cleavage!!! Cannot make it man!!!
Finally,my godsis passing by a construction site and saw this loser buck naked mast outside his room,when he saw my godsis,he smiled at her and increased the 'tempo' of his mast...My godsis left hurrily...

People who hates them have gf or good female friends being disturbed by them -anywhere from sexual to touching.
People who don't, probably heard stories, but never really have their love ones being encountered such scenarios. (Correct me If I am wrong?)
Psychologically, its bad preception because of what people had encountered. Its always works this way. I will have this deep bad impression of people with this name (I won't say it here, its kinda personal), and if I knew friends who have this name - beginning I am always so wary and ask for their chinese name instead. What you like or dislike is what you experienced and encountered. People can't/difficult to change the preception they personally experienced before or were told repeatedly (reinforcing).
My take is still: Avoid risk.

Right, Indians are the only people who have been caught for indecent exposure in Singapore....Please, there are many cases where chinese men have been arrested for exposing themselves. I know its very easy to stereotype a particular race, but thats not how it should be. If you were in a foreign country, what would you say when the people there think you eat dog meat simply because certain koreans do?
Wait until you experience a situation abroad where people have a certain pre-conception of you simply based on your race and you will understand how wrong it is to generalize people to that degree.
One thing I cant stand is how there are a number of Chinese people who are so racist themselves against Malays, Indians, etc, and yet have the cheek to complain about racism when they go abroad to other countries..... -

I had post a reply early in this thread saying me n my fren were victims of "countdown molest" a few yrs back.
Just to give a more detailed idea of wat happened:
we were walking towards heeren where there was oreadi a crowd. we did not take notice of the make-up of the crowd then. b4 we knew it, a gp of bangalas pushed us into the bangala crowd fm behind. then a lot of hands started grabbing our breasts and dug under our skirts. yeah.. someone here suggested reporting to the police. i was so stupid then... shld hv let them grab somemore while i take the time to rem their faces..
I admit i'm somewhat racist. not becos of skin colour, but rather, by the thgs they do. futhermore, i dun think bangalas come fm a culture that accords women much respect. and this not being their own country, it'll simply make them bolder.
I agree with Yunhaier that those who dun like the bangalas r those who hv been thru bad personal experience. May I add that for those who hv not, they most prob hv the mentality that "it'll not happen to me" n thus kept sprouting the "all man r equal" mantra?

Let me relate my personal experience with Bangladeshis.
A few years ago, I used to work in a Chinese restaurant as a waiter during my schooling days. While working, I got to know a few Bangladeshis who worked there as dish washers. They work hard but get paid little, they are very prudent with money. They seldom buy lunch, preferring to cook their own small meals and share it amongst themselves. Whatever money they have, they will remit it back to their folks in Bangladesh.
These dish washers are usually reserved and quiet folks, who prefer to mix with their own people. And that is the reason why they are constantly bullied by the other workers from Malaysia and even Singapore. As a very young man, there was nothing I could do even though I feel sorry for them. The only thing I could do is to be friendly with them and make them feel better.
Slowly, I got to know these people better. They are actually extremely nice people if you know them well, hell, they are just like you and me. Some of them have degrees from their universities back in their country but are forced to work here in low-paying jobs because of the bad economic situation. Imagine, with a decent degree and the ability to speak some English, they are forced to face these unreasonable and unkind colleagues who discriminate them because of their race and colour. How would you feel if your in their shoes? Tell me...
Granted, there are those Bangladeshis who are nasty and get cheeky in large crowds. But come on, tell me how many local guys, when they are in a big group and in a crowded place, tend not to get their hands all around? There are local guys who do that do, but they get away with it because they are locals. When a Bangladeshi does it, he gets all the stick and bat. It just aint fair and not right.
Anyways, back to my Bangladeshi friends. After I started talking and joking with them, they slowly warmed up to me. Whenever I saw them eating, they will offer me their food. No matter how little they have. Well, I would loved to see Singaporeans do that. Remember, these folks have little to spend and very little to eat, and yet they offered me whatever little they have. Speaks volumes of them.
I realised they like to hold their friends' hands, and I asked them why. Well, some of you might be interested to know that it means they are real good friends. Only good friends do it. Its their culture. Yes, we find it weird and maybe disturbing, but did you know that many other cultures find us eating fish head as weird and disturbing too? So, get over it and learn to accept them.
We slowly became good friends, and whenever I bring the dishes to them, they will greet me heartily and joke with me. There were times I even tried to stand up for them when they were bullied. But that was only after I had worked at the restaurant for a while.
A few weeks later, they offered me sweets, which I politely declined. They insisted on me having it, saying that only give sweets to good friends and it is considered rude to decline them. I smiled at them and took it gratefully.
I have now lost contact with them. But they did took a picture with me saying they want to send it back to their folks in the hometown. I was touched and grateful that I got to know such simple and kind people. Sure beats many Singaporeans that I know of.
The bottom line is, learn to see through face value. Take the bad with the good. Bangladeshis are just like us, they can be kind folks if you get to know them. Stop the name calling, you would not want an ang moh to call us chinese pigs right? I believe in one thing : Dun do onto others what you dun want others to do to you.
Dorian-X, and a few others here: I understand the rage you have for them. But please, stop these name callings, your behaviour borders on the extreme. You certainly dun want your children to grow up thinking like you, do you? There are many nice Bangladeshis out there, just like there are many bad Bangladeshis. Same goes with the local population. Maybe, one day, if you get to know a Bangladeshis will your mentality change. Think about it a Bangladeshis may have done nasty things to your girlfriend. But a local guy may have just been as capable of doing the same thing. Just like a Chinese worker or a Malaysian worker. I know of some good Malaysian friends, are they all bad? -

lame lah. what don't expose yourself to danger. i don't see any wrong crowding around at orchard during countdowns. cuz' thats the fun of it. Some people juz love the 'LIVE' feeling and crowds.
