A few owners have oredi spoken... "cuz its within budget" and "acceptable performance" and even "quite embarrassing" are some of the words that have come up. Tell me these words indicate that the ppl actually can afford better cars but decided on Tus becuz its such a great car. -

Doesn't mean if the fella bot Tus at $100k means his car is better than WRX rite? It just means his mistake was so much bigger.

Anyway, I tink I have all the right not to think much of a certain car model and post in an open forum to elicit response. I'm not totally biased in fact, and have asked ppl wat their reason is and whether they can live with the 'wannabe' tag which narrow-minded ppl like me have given most Tus owners.
Its juz like u watch Sg Idol or watever, I'm sure some of u will "Wah, I cant stand Daphne Khoo, act cute or Sylvester can be sg Idol?? wtf, he is juz an ah-beng??" etc...
Do these people know the idols? No.
But do they have the right to make their own judgements and dislike a certain person based on watever information and feeling they have abt the person at tat point? Yes.
Mebe after they got to know that particular idol, they mite change their opinion. So if someone convinces me (i know some ppl will tink "who will bother") tat Tuscani is worth buying for a good reason, i mite change my opinion. Or maybe one day my fren buys one and we go down track and it tears all the competition.
But till then, to me, its a car tat has no identity at all. -

i think most people, when car-shopping, have a budget in mind. if a car looks good/sporty, have reasonable performance, can get me from point A to point B.. why not? not everyone wants a high-performance car, no matter what the price is. -

It is all about preferences and budget or the size of your wallet.
Personally, I think the tuscani has a decent chassis and handles well. I think it is more of a lifestyle vehicle than an all-out performance vehicle. Power-wise it is indeed nothing to shout about but then again I guess most people who buy it like it's handsome looks and spirited handling.
I am fortunate to be able to scoot around in 'enthusiastically'powered vehicles but I still don't think the Tuscani deserves all the lame-duck press its been getting. What is loses out in horsepower, it makes up in handling It is quite a nice car to cruise around.
All the talk about horsepower is nice on paper but how many can actually tame the horses? And with the ridiculousy low speed limits in Singapore, sometimes I too wonder if the damned road tax and outrageous insurance premiums are worth it

All car have different construction, structures and weight for different purpose. "Performance Car" is a general words used by insurance company for classification and also used by layman who dunno much about car.
If you are so well verse in car, how about this way. Can you list out what are the 1.6L car that Tuscani will lose out and also the list of the same class of cars that Tuscani belong too lost out? -

Why is everybody so defensive or blasting each other over their choice of ride? Some pple just like to be seen in a tus.. Some pple like to be seen in a Big matrix. or some ppl just like to be seen in a sedate and family oriented corolla.
its all individual choices. In singapore, it doesnt matter if you 0-100km/H is less than 5s or more than 20s. THe Police beemer will always win.

And Fyi, the tus when modded is one major giant killing machine. (e 2.7L one.)
Sat in a tus myself , and the ride is ok, pretty decent too. So if anybody is gonna compare it to a Silvia, MRS, 350Z, Celica SS2 or ITR, its gonna be very One sided. Hyundai quality has definately improved over leaps and bounds. but to compare it to the higher japanese marques, would be like comparing your corolla to a lexus ES430. Different market and definately different target of consumers. Not everybody needs a Ferrari F430 for a sports car, or a Mercedes S500 for a family Sedan. or use a 350Z for the early market trip. But for the $$ rich ppl, Maybe So..
Main point being, its a car that People would like others to see them in. but for some others, the utilarian priority is more impt, thus getting a sedan or MPV more relevant to them.
But there is absolutely nothing wrong with the tus. It was never Marketed to be the definative sports coupe/high performance car in the 1st place. so why blast it in that category?
Anyway, I am driving a SIS.I choosed it for its design, suzuki fuel economy and relatively good performance. It is NOT a high performance car, but its my choice of ride. I believe the same thing applies to all the other TUS owners. They own it because there is something in the car that appeals to them. So just leave it as that and respect them or other car owners for their choice of ride.

This is getting nowhere, and is not surprising given the mentality exhibited thus far
Bottomline is, the owners are happy with their car. There is no need to "convince" someone. If someone think its's not worth it because of XYZ reasons, and others think otherwise for ABC reasons, then that's it.
Problem is XYZ wants ABC to convince XYZ why it's worth it, when ABC don't even feel it's necessary to do so. LOL
Give it a rest. -
Tuscani has a nice design, and thats about it.
Guess the main problem with Tuscani is that the engine and the price do not say the same about its nice design.
Its a pity that the engine isnt strong enough to complement the design. Its like a Japan 1.6cc engine inside a 2.0cc coupe body. A coupe with performance of a sedan.
Thats why the pricing of Tuscani is in category with some 1.6 sedans models. Will anyone consider buying if it is higher? They have to price that low for a coupe to entice people to consider.
Although there is nothing great about Tuscani, cars isnt cheap here. Not many people can afford cars even its picanto.
Just be happy what you have. -

You cant compare buying a 350Z with buying a Tus because at $150k, the owner HAS many choices but does not want only. He may choose 350Z cuz he dun want to maintain turbo car or dun like rotary. And as I said, the 350Z still has 280 bhp which backs it up.
Ppl wun look at 350Z and say stuff like "poor mans sports car" etc.. they at most tink "wasted, tat guy should buy Evo"
As for the Tus, the owners (not including those who really really like the looks of the car) want to get a sporty car but as I asked, why do ppl get sporty cars??
Usually, for performance, looks, or show-off value, which arguably the Tus dun have. So they made the choice to buy a 'poor-man's coupe' , so called, instead of saving up more for performance car or settling for relak family car or buying a good 1.6 sedan.
So since the Tus is in a sense flashy, it is subject to higher levels of scrutiny. But got nothing much to back it up. At most ppl say affordable and like the look, and if they can put up wif the fact it garners no respect at all, then so be it.
above 200 or HP higher than ur car or bcos of brand...
