we all know what kind of pple we have in charge of impt policies in s'pore. we all know the new schemes to so-called solve the traffic probs won't work for us s'poreans. all of us also know there's only 1 winner in all these 'fancy solutions', and for what reasons.
this expense/'tax' increase plus the recent fare increase for public transport will further squeeze the common s'porean dry. forget abt the rich folks with their numerous lambos and BMWs plus the mighty & powerful folks in charge of the policy-making; all this stuff don't make a difference to them. they have more than enough $$$ and assets to bury we common s'poreans alive.
elections are far away, hence the golden chance to push more of such policies across. well, we common s'poreans are supposed to be mindless zombies with no say in any decisions affecting us, be it casinos or taxes. honestly, I won't be surprised if one fine day, when 'pple up there' discover their fancy baby bonus aren't producing the results expected, we'll be dumped with "population enhancement taxes" for any family that has less than 3 children. of course, that'll be implemented before any election year... -

i think the best solution is to divert the things in CBD area..........
for instances, u try to bring the banks,major companies to other industrial areas, shopping malls to other places away from centrl area.......
maybe punggol 21 have such plans?? i dunno
the main thing is try to divert the industries away from central areas,
i think would help.But the government once again nv think through and wish to build an entertainment centre near esplanade???there will be more jams in the future for ppl going to casino after work in central area........
even entry to sentosa would rise to $5 per vehicle entry??
and when u use their carpark pay another $3??*shruggs who knows -
I figure the best way to ease jams in Orchard, is to just close off the entire stretch of road... Let traffic flow around orchard, but no cars allowed to go through... Then they'll have more space for other things... good idea to make a pedestrian mall like Bugis Junction... Then all those roadshows will have more space... otherwise it'll be so packed along the pavements... I was in orchard yesterday... so packed outside Meritus Mandarin cos of those stalls... so hard to walk...

y dun we send a petition in or find ways to let them* know our discontent? instead of just discussing here ? wont that be better? I feel a sudden surge in charges for everything since the casino project is announced.... try to boost capital for building the casino? i dunno ... just athought

i dun think the gahmen will seriously give any thoughts to whatever is mentioned in this thread. Since when has the gahmen ever went back on its decision when it comes to $$$?
Singaporeans' mentality is jus to pay and grumble and forget it. The gahmen knows this very well.
ERP at orchard rd will no doubt be absoutely in-effective in curbing congestions. Ppl at the top who make all the decisions shld come down to the common singaporeans to hear what we have to say. ERP, bus fare increasing despite reported record-breaking profits, non-improving bus services etc.....
STAY AT HOME, IT PAYS TO STEP OUT...

What casino got social costs la, must consider seriously la... then come out TWO!!!! Not just 1 for a balance, but TWO friggin IRs. Why? more $$$ lor.
Make car more affordable now so they can put more ERP gantries now and charge, charge, charge! This is a good strategy for earning $$ becuz all the old car buyers also have to pay to use the roads. Whereas if they make COE very high, less people buy cars, they earn less than having a gantry which thousands must use everyday!
All the scholars and brainiacs there and all they can think of is to use ERP to deter traffic? wahahahah...
frickin hell, stop making excuses tat its for our own good or wat la.. juz say wanna earn $$ so that Civil servants can get bigger pay. -

I'm really starting to wonder how many % of the SG population supports/agrees with all these government projects.. e.g Casino, Increase ERP gantries & fares, Circle Line, inrease in transport fares.. etc.

COe is implemented when the goverment feel that there are too much car in singapore.. So as to try to prevent people from buying car .....
last yr ..they mention.. Singapore road could handle more cars than it could .. and so They decrease the COE as to make car more affordable.. ( didn't COE implemented becuase to prevent more and more car ? But why now there too little car for the road.. COE still there ? )
Than now... Orchard road is too congusted..and the only way is to build more ERP...
