Yes, exactly! But dealers has the option of returning you your deposit if they wish (after 6 bids). The dealer cost is about $46k, so the margin is extremely thin at $45,800. - Customs Duty = 20% OMV
- GST = 5% (actually 6% because GST also on Customs Duty)
- ARF = 110% OMV
- COE
==> Dealer cost = (2.36*OMV) + COE
OMV for 14C is $13145, so you can do the math. Add a bit for their overhead and SE commissions.
They squeeze some profit from your trade-in car, PARF/COE rebate, loan, and insurance:
- Kickback from used car dealer, bank, and insurance companies
- buy PARF/COE from market at 4% discount and register your car (you pay full price)
- remainder of road tax on your car is supposed to be refunded to you, but usually dealers take it
Dealers rarely return deposits. Toyota SE told me that Borneo has never done it ever. But I heard that Hyundai did on the Sonata recently when they priced the Sonata at $61k for the National Day promotion, and COE went up. -
Well my full tank can reach up to 450km, just about the time the light comes on. Then I pump full again and check the litres that went in (about 32 litres give or take). Not sure I understand. The stock is 165/70R14 for 14C, and 175/60R15 for 14E.
In the chart above, 185/60R14 is considered 0% difference, so it means it's exactly the same size as the 165/70R14?
What's the optimal size for the March for 15", 16" and 17" rims ? -

How much petrol is in the car when you collect the car? Is it just enough so that I can pump it at the nearest station?
Further, I'm a first time driver. Can I have some feedback on the preferred petrol brand that you guys use? All data would be helpful.

TC standard is $30 worth of petrol with delivery of car. more than enough for 1-2 days drive.
Dunno what your SE promised you, but some additional standard stuff that TC threw in were:
- triangle
- tools
- jack
grade of petrol as long as 95 and above should be ok. otherwise down to how much $ you want to burn. -
Triangle, tools and jack - Aren't they the STANDARD items in most cars? I don't think TC would claim that its part of the freebies.

they should be standard, but you will surprised how many cars do not have the triangle...
not all motor companies who sell cars will give these freebies, some do, but some are from SE. -
I picked up my car 2 weeks ago. Check the basic stuff (lights, windows, keyless remote, horn, aircon). The most annoying part for me was that the car was dirtier than I expected. Stains on the dasboard, door, steering wheel, turn and wiper levers. Just check all round. If you installed solar film, be sure to check for bubbles.
Remember to drive easy for the first 1000km. Supposed to be under 3000rpm if possible bit since we don't have the rpm meter, just take it easy on the accelerator.
I've changed 2 things already which has made a big difference for me. The horn to a pair of Stebel Magnums ($15 but installation may cost $20) so now at least I have the bark if not the bite, and headlight bulbs. I bought the extra bright Philips bulbs (H4 is the right size) at the Motor Show ($36) and replaced the bulbs myself. The extra brightness can be seen immediately and makes night driving much safer. Totally LTA compliant.

No problem at all with the questions. Getting your car is a very exciting time but opens up a lot of questions.
You should get 1 keyless (intelligent), 1 hard key, and a key code. Mine is Comfort so that's my guess for Elegant. I saw this pile of keys for a new Latio nearby which also has intelligent key system. I thought that we should at least get 2 intelligent keys (Comfort gets keyless without "intelligence"). An extra keyless will cost me $240 from TC. Don't know about intelligent keyless.
I haven't quite figured out which petrol discount is the best. I heard from friends/forums that the SPC discount is the best. I'm using EssoMobil petrol, and most people I speak to advise using the same brand if possible due to the different additives used by different brands. Apply for the Esso Speedpass (through Esso - check their website). It's so convenient since you don't have to queue to pay, and you get higher discount than queuing because you get discount from station and credit card (link your Speedpass to your Citibank credit card). Note that the listed price at the station can be confusing because of all the discounts that are given.

Just got my bru bru March y'day. Having a whale of a time with it.
I'm very pleased with the sound proofing currently. Maybe I do not spend enough time on the highway yet, but I do not get alot of ambient noise, only when the motorcycle zooms past me. -
That's what I experience too. I think it's highly dependent on the speed we drive. The car is designed for low speeds city driving, manouvering in and out of shopping centers. Highway speeds is when the engine starts to struggle and noise levels go up.
And FC starts to drop...
