Just recently there was this case of someone dying in an ambulance on the way to the hospital and there was a big hooha about it cos' the civil defence force did not go to the nearest private hospital but the nearest public one which was quite some way off. Anyway, that is besides the topic.Originally posted by eutjin:urmm .... i luv the times when you see the drivers give way to ambulances
even in a massive traffic jam in KL, when 3 lanes have become 4 ..... a 5th lane miraculously appears for the sake of the ambulance
i may sound naggy ..... but, i'm would really like to see the same habit be adopted here in sg. it's ppl's lives we're giving way for .....
good pointOriginally posted by Subbx:Just recently there was this case of someone dying in an ambulance on the way to the hospital and there was a big hooha about it cos' the civil defence force did not go to the nearest private hospital but the nearest public one which was quite some way off. According to the brother of the deceased who was on board the ambulance at the time, first the ambulance did not use the siren all the time. The driver was just content with sounding it at burst intervals and remaining with the rest of the traffic. Even at the traffic lights which were red but the roads were clear, the driver expressed uncertainty and was unwillingly to move due to.... fear of being caught by the TP and violating the traffic rules. HUH?!?! So my point is, even IF a lane did appear just for the ambulance to move, will the driver of the ambulance DARE to use it? This may be purely the subjective opinion of the brother but it does give us something to ponder about.![]()
heh we did that last december when we went to NZ(the north island)Originally posted by zenmaster:I drove in NZ and I can tell you tat it is so much less stressful driving there than here.
The drivers gave way when they approach single lane bridges and numerous circles (you hardly find them here). And they really follow road signs!
After I gave way to the locals, they horn or wave to say 10q. Try finding that here?!![]()
mi & my wife were in south island this may, taking turns to drive a 1.8L toyota corolla.Originally posted by ceecookie:heh we did that last december when we went to NZ(the north island)
my father booked a campervan and we too also considerateletting faster cars pass us.
what the **** u talking about???Originally posted by johncooper:Disagreed! They are better mannered drivers there then here in SG .... only the few that makes them bad .... for eg if there is a traffic jam, you place the head of the car positioned in to the lane that you want to go in .... the driver of that lane will give way .... and if you engage in a race with malaysian car ... at the end of the race if its win or lose they will wave a thank you (at least it happens all the time to me) ONLY a few drivers will resort into foul play there.
In Singapore ... you race with another driver ... if the other party lose 9/10 times he will get back at you and give you a hard stare.
If you are in the rush or need to get somewhere urgently, on the expressway on the right lane with your right signal on, 8/10 singaporeans will act blur, or thought that you forgot to switch off your signal, they will not budge at all!
6/10 Singaporeans who owns Cheong cars does not know that over taking a car, who is driving on the middle lane in the expressway, when the right lane is clear, is an INSULT!
Ah yauh, you are rite...I saw that too when i was driving at brisbane.Originally posted by GwenSilvz:what the **** u talking about???
Anyway, when I was in Sydney, I noticed that any emergency vehicle has all rights of way!! They don't have to stop at all, even at junctions when the light is not in their favour. All the cars will give way[/u]
