i went to both mongkok & wan tou sek
overall, i find wan tou sek's dimsum taste better
price similar
but wan tou sek use plastic disposable bowls as cups
geylang has 2 main street, odd and even lorongs
mongkok is @ lor8, facing main road
wantousek is at main road(odd), near lorong 17 -

Just back from mongkok/wang jiao. For those that are interested it's at the street where the whole stretch is selling food one..opposite the durian king street..
When I went there about 730pm only 3 tables were occupied (we were quite sceptical by the 'crowd' but decided to give it a try). The place is quite spacious and tidy unlike wan tou sek which seems really cramped. The menu is quite extensive with about 40 different dishes. Their service is quite fast too. We were served within 5 minutes of making our orders.
IMO, I find the food to be above average, but not fantastic. The har gao, char siew bao, eggtart and siew mai are recommended. Zhu chang fen (both shrimp and char siew), pork rib and sharkfin dumpling are to be avoided .
Total cost for 6 people added up to $51.60. We had dou jiang you tiao after that too

What's with the stereotyping? I searched for it online and asked a few people about it but I couldn't get an answer so I asked for your help since you obviously know where it is. Isn't that what a community is supposed to be about? Helping one another.
