Yar. And if anyone meets a friend like that, first question to ask is "What did Jesus mean when he said 'Take up the cross and follow me'?"Originally posted by sgforums_user:these kind of Christians are termed 'Sunday worshipers'
they appear to be devout; go church, cell everything.. but their lives are not pleasing to God
those "christians" are actually those catholics...only they have such "rules".....us christians don't have such junk..u wanna wear go ahead..nobody's forcing u to obey our rules..its all about self willingness. u choose not to believe or follow..all up to u..Originally posted by one-niner:hmm another event that i remembered that made me rather critical of how christians view other people's religion.
back in secondary school, my classmate was a buddhist.then he was wearing this buddhist beads bracelet on his hand, then our vice-principal saw it and told my classmate to remove the beads saying that this was a christian school and we should be tolorant of our school christians rules and be mindful, my fren refused to take it off saying that he will remove it at the temple instead with the blessing of the monks, then my vice principal got pissed and called his parents saying that he was being rude and disobident.pls bear in mind my classmates just told my vice prinicpal the reason for not taking off and didn't shout at her in anyway.
then my classmates parents came down, and when the vice principal related to them the problem of the boy not taking down the beads, his father was saying still they will remove it at the temple, but my vice principal was pretty stubborn saying that in school they didn't allow any students to wear such artifacts of religon even crosses, then when couple of girls strolled into the school office to run some errands on the behalf of the teacher, did they saw crosses on the girls necks ....then his parents pointed out, the vice principal was rather out of words and asked the girls to take out the crosses, then thats when the girls said that "did you said last time in the girl's talk that christians in school were allowed to wear the crosses ? "
this matter was brought up to MOE and it was settled soon after MOE rang up the vice principal regarding the incident.
and my fren contiuned to wear his beads ..
IMO cross symbolises suffering and dying for our sins..so take up the cross probably means like give up your sins and repent and follow me or something. nonsense..only catholics wear crosses on their necks...christians dont do that.Originally posted by Icemoon:Yar. Where is their Cross? On their neck?![]()
Contary to what you said, I think Catholics do not use "pressure-selling" methods.Originally posted by vito_corleone:those "christians" are actually those catholics...only they have such "rules".....us christians don't have such junk..u wanna wear go ahead..nobody's forcing u to obey our rules..its all about self willingness. u choose not to believe or follow..all up to u..
i think u better be mindful of your langauge my fren, don't think your the Don and you are above the law.One of the elemantary traits of a christian is to be mindful of other people religion and respect other religion, using such immapporiate words usually warrent judgement at the very least from others and actions from more angish people.Originally posted by vito_corleone:those "christians" are actually those catholics...only they have such "rules".....us christians don't have such junk ...u wanna wear go ahead..nobody's forcing u to obey our rules..its all about self willingness. u choose not to believe or follow..all up to u..
there are couple of such hospics and home for the aged operated by christian organisation, along Adam Rd ...Originally posted by Einstein99:Contary to what you said, I think Catholics do not use "pressure-selling" methods.
I believe independent churches are more like that. I believe Catholic is the true church because of the strong faith it instilled many people. Just look at the monks and nuns who are taking care of hospices, orphanages, old aged homes, etc. These are not glamourous jobs. In fact, they are quite dirty.
However, I have not heard of many other churches doing the same thing. DEFINATELY NOT CHC!
They really live a poor and humble life because they chose to GIVE.
organised to do what ?Originally posted by OldAhPek:lolz....
wow wow wow
all getting heated up
no wonder they says 'Religion' is the most sensitive topic
and in the name of 'Religion', Millions have died
well i dunno why do a church need ISO,
probably, to show that it is really very well organised![]()
i suggest you visit more churches before deciding. you have no basis for comparison if you have only 1 sampleOriginally posted by marcuz1977:I am thinking of joining City Harvest Church.
But before I do so, it would be great to hear some frank, but accurate comments and not some 1 liners "CHC is Sh*t" type of comments.
Wonder if any one leaves near the church and know what car Rev Kong and Ho Yao Sun drive? Why do I ask this question? I agree that churches and other places of worship can be grand and expensive looking. However, on the other hand, pastors while preaching for christains to be Christ-like, should live like Christ, with humble possessions in this materialistic world.
Thank you in advance for your comments.
Happy New Year to all and God bless the survivors of the Tsunami.
explain to me why the vatican is filled with people wearing luxury robes of gold and silk. no where in the bible was there a mention of monks or nuns in chirstianity nor the need to abstain from marriage or intimate contact between opposite sexes...and wot was wrong with my statements? i wasn't trying to critisize anything..i was just questioning and speaking up... explain to me the death of millions of innocents killed during the catholic inquisition..explain all those scandals with little boys, poor altar boys who were molested and such, the cover ups when millions were paid to silence the victims. im not trying to force any idea on you..you can do whatever you want, whenever you like it dosen't concern me..what have i to gain by making such statements?Originally posted by Einstein99:Contary to what you said, I think Catholics do not use "pressure-selling" methods.

bingo, to show that chc is a well organized entity. regardless of any organizations, profit or non profit, religion or non religion, it is important to be organized and prove that it is as organized as it claims to be.Originally posted by OldAhPek:lolz....

name me one.Originally posted by plo30360:Are you saying there no such scandals in the other denominations?
i dont understand why a church has to be ultra organised..its just a place where people come together to worship and share thoughts, ideas and discuss about the faith..not some commercial company..this totally defeats the purpose of going to church.Originally posted by Ito_^:bingo, to show that chc is a well organized entity. regardless of any organizations, profit or non profit, religion or non religion, it is important to be organized and prove that it is as organized as it claims to be.
however, transparency is a different issue, although the image of transparency can be projected, it is often hard to prove.
