1. there are no so called correct paths, only those desired by ppl.Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:nope, like i said before, its just something i feel that must be done , ask yourself , how many people do you know that actually fully commit themselves to follow the "correct path" by words alone, history has show again and again that fear is a better tool , especially when dealing with humans
if not why do you thing certain people are so successful
naturally if china were the agressors i would suggest that a blood price is paid by china
the problem is you people always view such actions as revenge when it is not always so
u didnt want them dead?Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:i don't hate them, i just want justice done
for every person killed we must kill one of theirs
same for every cent looted and every woman raped
its only fair
hate is
"oh i F***ing HATE THEM I WANT THEM DEAD , I WANT THEM TO SUFFER!"
mine is definately not hate
no they didnt, they just did things that they thought were right.Originally posted by boy in blues:in your opinion, did those japanese commit wrong?
this method i believe is they want to use group pressure aka if you get pple into trouble they hate... its pshycology i think but for me i would tend to hate the indiot officer instead for following such thingsOriginally posted by oldbreadstinks:something i want to agree with but am unable to, especially when i'm taught in the army that when someone commits a wrong , everyone else gets punished except the ones involved
and frankly speaking , such methods are more frightening and more effective when used against stubborn people

I will and also have been doing some kind of boycotting all these while. Nvr been to Japan (don't intend to go) and try my best to buy elsewhere. BUT not hardcore lah, just personal choice, and sometimes bobian got to buy Japan brand stuff also.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Boycotting Japanese products and don't travel to Japan.
Will you do it?
in case you haven't noticed, i add these "" to my "correct path"Originally posted by loseagain:1. there are no so called correct paths, only those desired by ppl.
2. u want these actions cos u want them to feel what they inflict in others. this IS revenge.
btw, if i have ur full family tree, im sure i can link u to ppl who did very bad stuff. should u pay in their place?
bad by whos definations? mine or yours?Originally posted by loseagain:btw, if i have ur full family tree, im sure i can link u to ppl who did very bad stuff. should u pay in their place?
no i'm refering to how i would response if i hate themOriginally posted by loseagain:u didnt want them dead?
then how u kill them without them turning dead?
i actually feel that to avoid punishment, the whole group might take things into their own hands and punish the targetOriginally posted by hisoka:this method i believe is they want to use group pressure aka if you get pple into trouble they hate... its pshycology i think but for me i would tend to hate the indiot officer instead for following such things
and alsa as i said if you want to include agroup of pple in then you include the largest possible lor no reason to stop halfway mah
ok first i think army method is bullshit cos i hate army. against stubborn pple it doesn't work anyway, it only works on those easily swayed. 2nd even in the army (i assume for some reason you believe in army teachings although i thin its male bovine solid excretions) they only apply that to minor instances, i haven't seen a whole platoon enter db cos a person didn't run( yes they actually charged a guy for not running)

Who is more apathetic? Singaporean students or Japanese students?Originally posted by iveco:I was just illustrating the feeling of apathy prevalent among the Japanese exchange students I have met in the course of my studies.
Even if they did, they'd rather not dwell on it. That's their grandparents' problem, not theirs.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Who is more apathetic? Singaporean students or Japanese students?
Do the Japanese students realized what their forefathers did to China and the rest of asia pacific?
Why are we apathetic?Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Who is more apathetic? Singaporean students or Japanese students?

but are we the only pragmatic ones? are we the only one that has japanese investments? japan has investments in all the countries that they invaded, even china and korea.Originally posted by kheldorin:Why are we apathetic?
Because this issue is not new. It has been brought up so many times before.
Because we recognize that this is the Japan's government attempt to cause internal conflict in China and Korea.
Because a sense of pragmatism has been deeply ingrained into the Singaporeans. To undestand that, let's take a look at the actions of our forefathers. While the rest of South-East Asia took on an anti-colonial stance, we didn't. We realised that unlike other SEA countries, we are a small nation and we need their help in order to survive. We encouraged foreign MNCs including Japanese ones to set up in Singapore and thereby replacing local small companies. If there was to a huge uproar, it should be then. Afterall, our local companies are under direct threat from Japanese ones. But again, this sense of pragmatism prevailed.
The answer is no and I don't get your point. CindyFeh asked why Singaporeans don't seem to be doing anything.Originally posted by dragg:but are we the only pragmatic ones? are we the only one that has japanese investments? japan has investments in all the countries that they invaded, even china and korea.
what if u were a descendant of one of the japanese soldiers who commited all the atrocities in singapore? will u still stand by what u say?Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:bad by whos definations? mine or yours?
if its mine i would definately support those people
since u would want them dead if u hate them, doesnt wanting them dead imply that u hate them?Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:no i'm refering to how i would response if i hate them![]()
sorry. just to further emphasize that not only singapore is pragmatic.Originally posted by kheldorin:The answer is no and I don't get your point. CindyFeh asked why Singaporeans don't seem to be doing anything.
My answer was that Singaporeans are generally pragmatic and thus don't see confrontational actions such as boycotts and protests as of any benefit. These actions just further fans the flame of hostilities. Look at the way we handle problems such as the Pedra Branca, water supply issues or even other countries interfering with our domestic policies. We don't go around marching protests or burning flags. Most of our issues are resolved as non-confrontational as possible.

y should singaporeans care about these issues?Originally posted by Cindyfeh:A further point to add:
Singaporeans are pragmatically self-centered. Totally heck care about whatever is happening out there unless the news affect his/her own well-being. Lets not talk about Pedra Branca or any of the international issues, just look at how much Singaporeans know about Singapore's own internal issues. Nuts. Zilch. Nada.
yesOriginally posted by loseagain:what if u were a descendant of one of the japanese soldiers who commited all the atrocities in singapore? will u still stand by what u say?
not likely since i know my family tree very well, unless i'm adopted, but that would make it hard to explain why i look like my parentsOriginally posted by loseagain:i mean u never know if u were the great grandchild of some japanese soldier, considering all those rapes commited.
