why guys are not chivalrous anymore?

want equality, then want chivalry. make up your mind.
i would still do those stuff, no one to use it on anyway. don't think my girl friends would appreciate it as much

That's true, but on the other hand...they are never chivalrous. 
Well, because sg girls are not princesses and sg guys are not knights...so it won't happen period.
When the community is poor by monetary values, their social values also happens to be proportional to their monetary values.
You won't find gentlemen and ladies in Singapore just because everybody who's out there is out there for a reason...that's to work and earn a living, pay off their debts and save for an early retirement and to realise their ambitions if any. :p
The only chivalrous guys out there is mainly people who are well-off, buayas and potiential con-mans/robbers. People who are well-off has nothing better to do after realising their ambitions, and thus need to upgrade their social behaviour standards. People who are buayas is probably going after you at the moment or have been secretly admiring you for a long time or just want to get you in bed with them. Well, con-mans/robbers is self-explainary...especially when a suspicious someone is kind enough to wait for you to get into the lift together alone.
And you'll probably appear in the next-day's newspaper headlines for being robbed.
Earn enough to make yourself a rich tai-tai and you can be your own Queen everyday. Same goes for the guys. :p

coz ying xiong bu ke yi dang fan chi. imagine all the guys being gentlemen and let the gals get up the bus 1st, and what if the bus is full? the guys would be late for school/work etc. all this, probably even without a little sense of gratitude from those gals that managed to get on the bus thru their kind gesture. so in a nutshell, if our kindness is not appriciated, why should we be bozos who keeps sacrificing just for the title of being chivalrous?
of coz, holding the door for the person behind or holding the lift for another are things that everyone should do. its not about being chivalrous or not. just an act of kindness. -

seriously, i do that for complete strangers, i get varied results.. observing people, what i get is mostly total indifference, they treat you as if you owed it to them to open the door, allow a lady to pass first.. stuff like that
then there are those who smile and thank you..
and there are those who stare at you like you are some kinda nutcase...
oh well.. i guess common courtesy isn't that common anymore

I was at MacDonalds a few days ago and this girl was coming in behind me, so I held the door open a little longer than necessary for myself to get through.
Basic courtesy on her part would have been to take the door from me as she walked through behind me right?
Instead she rushes by me and jumps into the queue at the counter ahead of me. That's the Singapore girl for you... Chivalry is dead? That's cause women killed it. -

sometimes, i feel kinda down when i do what i've been taught to do since i was a cub.. but the smiles when someone appreciates what you've done, makes it all kinda worthwhile and you get a warm fuzzy feeling inside

yeah.. i hold the door for people also. and when they thank you, it's always a great feeling. that's why i never forget to thank people who hold doors for me. or even let me board the bus first. unless i bad mood.
