hey, each one has her own thinking.. i mean that is the ideal situation so pls dun swarm me...Originally posted by lwflee:Wow, you are demanding. There really aren't that many young, single men earning 8k/month in SIngapore. Hell, there aren't that many old men earning that much!
An experienced project engineer would barely hit that amount. So i guess the engineers need not apply.
I suggest you look for off-shore opportunities(sp?).
if what you said above is right caramon could be making $8k a month.Originally posted by gentlerock:Hey B_ored,
I have a good friend in this forum who can be considered as above average.
He's handsome, charming, charismatic, is a businessman, drives a Mercedes SLK, is a virgin (or so he claims)....and he's even starting a seafood restaurant soon. He's currently looking for dates for a romantic evening with a sumptuous seafood dinner thrown in. Perhaps you could PM him and see how things go.
Please check out the member named "caramon".
Thanks and good luck!
By the time I hit a combined salary of even $7999, it'll be a decade, maybe 2. And since its combined, I have to look at hers too.Originally posted by B_ored:shouldnt guys pay for the bulk of things? anyway, so u and your bf are doing ok also. Agree that cash and house should come 1st before a car. kapoh but do u guys earn a combined salary of more than $8k a month? if yes, cannot buy new hdb flat wor..
i fully agree with you.Originally posted by lwflee:Wow, you are demanding. There really aren't that many young, single men earning 8k/month in SIngapore. Hell, there aren't that many old men earning that much!

I hope you're not offended, cause that was certainly not the intention. I have to say though, at 8k/month, you are looking at senior management. You should look overseas.Originally posted by B_ored:hey, each one has her own thinking.. i mean that is the ideal situation so pls dun swarm me...
a wife with virtues and good upbringing.Originally posted by dragg:i fully agree with you.
what do you think a man who makes $8k a month looks for in a partner?
its ok.Originally posted by lwflee:I hope you're not offended, cause that was certainly not the intention. I have to say though, at 8k/month, you are looking at senior management. You should look overseas.
Actually there are plenty of oppurtunities in Iraq now for ppl with the right skills. You could for eg be a close protection agent in iraq, or a bomb disposal expert. You might lose an arm or a leg though. But they're covered by insurance and you've got 2 of each anyway.Originally posted by ditzy:Hmmm, what kind of occupation would give me a renumeration package of close to $8K monthly even before I hit my 30s. errr No... i'm a guy and i regret (and i do mean that) to inform you that i'm way off your ideal. Maybe in 20 years...Originally posted by B_ored:its ok.so i assume u r a girl? whats your criteria for a husband?
no disrespect to you. chances of making $8k in 20 years for most people is not as high as getting retrenched.Originally posted by lwflee:errr No... i'm a guy and i regret (and i do mean that) to inform you that i'm way off your ideal. Maybe in 20 years...
You've single handedly crushed my dreams and sapped my youthful vigour. I hope you're happy.Originally posted by dragg:no disrespect to you. chances of making $8k in 20 years for most people is not as high as being retrenched.
our economy is no longer like it used to be. employees market no longer exist and i have serious doubts that we will live to see that day again. outsourcing and retrenchments are common. $8K salary is beyond majority of the population!!!Originally posted by lwflee:You've single handedly crushed my dreams and sapped my youthful vigour. You tink he's successful? Tink again... Since hw old he starts workin? If he starts at 23, he jus hv 2 save $700 per mth 2 hit $50,000. Own a 3 rm flat, surely is his mum's. Cause he's nt married.(I tink) As 4 his 5 rm flat, he nt married, nt 35 yrs old yet, hw can he buy a flat? N s'poreans cant own more than 1 HDB usin e sm name. So mani flaws, hw do u wan ppl 2 believe. As 4 car, its jus an xcuse sayin it convient, S'pore is nt tat big. U got $, there's sumting call CAB. Try askin ur frien, who will reach ur destination faster if theres a jam on e roads.Originally posted by B_ored:Have a close guy friend who is currently 29 years old, monthly income is about $4K+. Owns a 3 room flat and staying with mum but has recently bought another 5 room flat in town area and to move over. He is also contemplating buying a car in the near future for convenience sake... Dun ask me why i know but he has over $50K in cash and shares investment.
Now, the question: is he consider a succesful person at his age? Some of my guy friends seems to envy him .. but why? He is not exactly very rich.. for that kinda admiration.
Some of my girl friends then commented that its not so easy to find a guy who earns that income and has so much savings and property at his age. Is that true? Thought his savings is not that much?
comments pls..
We got the flat before our combined salary went over the $8k a month scale. It was so close that HDB actually sent a letter warning us before the 2nd appointment.Originally posted by B_ored:shouldnt guys pay for the bulk of things? anyway, so u and your bf are doing ok also. you learned that from financial management?Originally posted by titoo:I juz chuckled when i see the posts....obviously, the gers out there are juz...gers...simple minded yet full of illusions...here is why...
The really Wealthy ones are those that live and dress frugal.
The really Poor ones are those that act and live wealthy....
Consider this, Guy A has a cool job, $4k...got a Merc, a luxury flat and wear nice suits....have little savings and investments, how much do you think his net worth is? How long do you think he can survive without a job?
Now guy B...not a professional....earn slightly 2k....no car....live well below his means (we call it frugal not cheap)..have a flat that is fully paid....have most of his assets in investments acct....same question, how much do you think his net worth is? how long do you think he can survive without a job?
Bottomline....Its not how much one earns but how much one keep and have it work hard for you. You can ask yourself this question to determine if he is successful....How long can he last if he doesnt have a job....if your ans is less than 5 year...he is not successful....
here is how you calculate your net worth.....your annual income X 1/10 your age.
For that guy mentioned....is 4k X 12 = 48000
48000 X 2.9 = 139,200
hmmmmm....he is way below successful....hahaha
