Actually what is the most appropriate way of answering if the interviewer ask:
1) "Why do you wanna work in this company?"
2) "You have no former experience in this area of work, what makes u think u can accomplish it?" -
My job Interview was at 1998, my first job. I dont recall what they asked but its was not like now.

I hate these sub-qualified HR officers. They can sit in front of you holding your resume and ask "tell me about yourself", "what are your strengths and weaknesses?".
These questions are actually not meant to get real answers from you. What they want to do is to judge your body language/reaction by asking you for answers which they already know.
The problem is that most of these HR officers (at least the ones I've met) can't even read body language, so why even bother to keh-kiang and ask? Because they read too many textbooks lor! Textbook say ask, they ask. Don't know why must ask, nevermind....just follow textbook. Thats why so many interviewers ask the same standard questions.
One of my favourite things to do (if I'm not interested in the job already) is to answer, telling them my strengths and weaknesses, then immediately ask them "how do you see my strengths and weaknesses affecting my application?". Then you see them taken aback, frantically searching for some intelligent answers.
I have a strange job interview history. Then last three major interviews I've attended were conducted at:
(1) Equatorial Hotel Singapore, pub.
(2) Hyatt Hotel Singapore, pub.
(3) Eaton Hotel Hong Kong, lobby and restaurant.

Do some research before the interview. Find out more about the company and their recent activities. Then talk why you think this is a great company to be in. If possible, link back to your personal goals. Example:
If the company is going overseas, talk about the opportunities and exposure an international company will provide. Share tat u find it interesting to work with different cultures.
"You have no former experience in this area of work, what makes u think u can accomplish it?"
Cite examples from your previous achievements the generic competencies u acquire tat is applicable to this job. Example, project management, communication, etc.
Link your previous experiences, though unrelated, to your new job. Example: production supervisor applied for sales job target at manufacturing sector. Shared tat u can speak their language, understand their problem.
On the other hand, i've to agree tat other than trainee positions, its tough to get the job when u've no related experiences.
