My PC is 4 years old liao. Still going strong.
What I do is I defrag monthly and don't anyhow install programs.

For me, it's not a matter of whether the comp died or not, just a matter of whether i can tahan the sloooooowwwww speed of the comp.
Spyware/virus/adware scans shuld be done as often as possible, at least once per fortnight.
Use Firefox if possible. Keeps away lotsa nasty stuffs. -
I retired my Pentium II 400Mhz machine not too long ago..It lasted me from 1998 till 2005..It was still working fine though..
Currently using a P4 for the time being until I get a laptop.. -

so wat i meant is whether the recovery disc has these simple but useful software in it... i dunno watz in the recovery disc though, but none of my frens whom are using dell comps are complaining... but then again, itz will always be gd to know wat are the components in your comp... -
the recovery CD does not have such s/w
such s/w will have separate installation CDs
and they are usually not very good stuff lah (tts why free mah) -
