I wanted to help another charity...but my teacher say not allow dunno what blah blah blah...Originally posted by WoShiNoobie:Actually, you do. I'm currently in sec 4, and i actually attained enough CIP points outside of the activities planned by my school. It all adds up to whether you have the true spirit of community work or not.

What you have stated here is just what was practiced in the past. It is not compulsory. The Bible also mentions, do not use the Lord's name in vain.Originally posted by caleb_chiang:Leviticus 27:30 " 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
Leviticus 27:31 If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it.
Leviticus 27:32 The entire tithe of the herd and flock—every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod—will be holy to the LORD.
Numbers 18:27 Your offering will be reckoned to you as grain from the threshing floor or juice from the winepress.
Numbers 18:28 In this way you also will present an offering to the LORD from all the tithes you receive from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the LORD's portion to Aaron the priest.
Numbers 18:29 You must present as the LORD's portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.
Bare that in mind that Church is a place that need its attendant's support in tithing to actually continuing to function. Taking tithing as a form of donation is disgracing.![]()

Yes. I just stating the fact that some people treat that as donating is just like disgrace their own belief. And that I did not use his name in vain. I am just quoting straight from the bible but you accused me that those are not God's words???Originally posted by shade343:What you have stated here is just what was practiced in the past. If a church practices good things, the Lord will definitely take care of it. No need to pressure people into giving money.

How is donating to the church disgraceful? Tithing is a form of donation what. There is nothing special about tithing. Im not accusing you of anything. Dont jump to conclusions please. Im saying that some chruches like to quote this part of the bible to collect money from their followers. That is using the Lord's name in vain.Originally posted by caleb_chiang:Yes. There are other ways to show commitment to God. Like doing good and be good, as God had said, is by itself a form of commitment.Originally posted by caleb_chiang:Okay... enough of this flaming due to biblical issue. Anyway, you mentioned that phrase I quoted was not God's word in the previous post.
Anyway, tithing should be treated as a commitment to God instead of a donation to the church.![]()
The idea of CIP itself is already hypocritic.Originally posted by Saint`:the idea of doing CIP is flawed .. its is implemented so tat the students of singapore can have a holistic education system whereby it train them to be this n tat .. it is so farking lame .. it is jus the wishful thinking of the ministies that they think tat by integrating all these shiit .. the student can develop into a better person .. but the truth is not
sec sch if i nt wrong .. its 20 hrs issit .. then jc it is a freaking 80 hrs to get the 4 desired points for university admission .. wat the fark is that .. it is being forced upon on us .. of all the flag volunteers .. hw many u think are doing it with a true heart .. some simply take 1cent ,5 cents n top themselves .. some simply go waste the time by slacking n chilling out .. hw successful is this CIP program ..
then the ones benefiting from the flag days r charity organisations .. robbing of these poor students' precious time n effort .. n creating public nusiance as there r so many flag days every week ... !!! i hope tat nfk incident can seriously knock some sense into those organisations .. n minsities so they can improve the idea of cip ..

how u know? i kenna a few times si bei du lan, knnccb kuku jiao nei nei pok!Originally posted by shade343:Those are sales personnel....they sell "donation tickets". Their are based on this system in which Out of $5, $1 goes to their pocket, $2.5 goes to the company that "initiated this fund raising" and the other $1.5 goes to the charity.
NEVER DONATE TO SUCH PPL.
Next time, when one of this people approach you, read their photocopied papers and the tickets which they are selling properly. Question them. All will be revealed.Originally posted by leddy:how u know? i kenna a few times si bei du lan, knnccb kuku jiao nei nei pok!

This is called sales pitch. IMO, selling tickets is easier to sell than selling other products. I had no problems selling 30 tickets in one day.Originally posted by leddy:they told me cock n bull stories, say what these ppl very poor, need help, i kenna 2 times is for muslim family one. these ppl really know how to exploit the poor for their pockets...
I was also imposed to sell the flags/pens/peanuts for NKF... Gave a firm No to the teacher in charge. Had quite an argument with her over CIP. Well...you O lvl this year...best is to guai guai listen and accept whatever Shit from the people up there. Your testimonial is at stake here....thats why I did not wish to press the matter further when my teacher discourage me from helping out other charities for CIP.Originally posted by WoShiNoobie:I was also imposed to sell the flags/pens/peanuts for NKF... What students now should learn is how to make your own choices. The education system is flawed. Students nowadays are all brought up in a "protected" environment. If you attempt to step out of this circle, you are ostracised and the teachers will find faults with you.
But that's besides the point. What matters here is the public is treating these students too harshly. It's like asking a toilet-cleaner what the executives are planning.
