you think commanders will not pressure you not to fall out meh??Originally posted by Zooish:Call me an arse, but i think if a soldier faints during parade, he has only himself to blame. Before parade, there will be ample opportunity for him to sit out if he's not feeling well. The onus is on him to voice out.
Dun count on it, unless he's dead.Originally posted by Icemoon:I hope some high ranking officers (like parade rsm) visit him and inquire about his condition.
I second your comment.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:I think i heard the M word!
He used the wrong term. It should not be quitters it should be "shi zhe shen chun" - the one who adapts survives.
Anyway, heard from my bro that in times of war, a lot of the nsmen will really shoot their officers for torturing them in army and then surrender. They rather surrender than die under scholars who know only how to talk on paper and use army laws to pressure the men to work rather than real charisma and leadership. May be someone will want to second this comment.

Well, if it is found out that he had a gastrits or sort, who to blame?Originally posted by Gordonator:with all those talks about what will the consequences of the soldier who fainted be, like signing extras, getting charged all that. but the truth is, there is no evidences saying that he'll definately sign extras or get charged. so lets not jump to conclusions and say things like as though SAF is so heartless and unforgiving and will definately punish the soldier no matter how sick he is without any understanding.
just my 2 cents.
if he is not feeling well, he should sound out before the parade, afterall, there's always a reserve.Originally posted by sbst275:Well, if it is found out that he had a gastrits or sort, who to blame?
Who knows? Have heard of a standing dead man?Originally posted by Gordonator:if he is not feeling well, he should sound out before the parade, afterall, there's always a reserve.
that's the cons of SAF, being too garang.Originally posted by Gordonator:if he is not feeling well, he should sound out before the parade, afterall, there's always a reserve.
Ya...Originally posted by Gordonator:in any case, if u are not feeling well, it is your responsibilty to sound out and not force yourself to carry on. i know being a guard of honour to some might be a very honourable job and maybe that soldier who fainted do not want to miss out on such a rare opportunity so he forced himself to carry on. i mean if u are physically fit on that day, i don't see why anyone will faint just by standing there and marching for at most 1 hour.

i'll be surprised if he can still stand still and yet unconsious and holding rifle or the colours in his hands.Originally posted by sbst275:Just drill
Hmm don't know how to say this, but have you done ns? you should know that falling out is not as easy as you make it sound, especially for this type of things. and you may think its really an honour but alot of pple think its a chore anyway.Originally posted by Gordonator:in any case, if u are not feeling well, it is your responsibilty to sound out and not force yourself to carry on. i know being a guard of honour to some might be a very honourable job and maybe that soldier who fainted do not want to miss out on such a rare opportunity so he forced himself to carry on. i mean if u are physically fit on that day, i don't see why anyone will faint just by standing there and marching for at most 1 hour.
Hmm don't know how to say this but this is only your personal way of thinking, your own point of view. all the things u said about this being a chore, afraid of being punished, branded as chao geng, hated by the recerve, all this might not nescessary reflect what those soldiers think.Originally posted by hisoka:Hmm don't know how to say this, but have you done ns? you should know that falling out is not as easy as you make it sound, especially for this type of things. and you may think its really an honour but alot of pple think its a chore anyway.
there are lots of reasons for a person not falling out, one of which is that he might attract punishment(extras, etc) or that he get branded as a chao geng'er or he gets hated by the reserve. this is esp true if the person quits for some discomfort and it is found out that it is inconsequencial or worse they can't find anythign althoguh the person feels funny.
