Anyway, heard from my bro that in times of war, a lot of the nsmen will really shoot their officers for torturing them in army and then surrender. with all those talks about what will the consequences of the soldier who fainted be, like signing extras, getting charged all that. but the truth is, there is no evidences saying that he'll definately sign extras or get charged. so lets not jump to conclusions and say things like as though SAF is so heartless and unforgiving and will definately punish the soldier no matter how sick he is without any understanding.

in any case, if u are not feeling well, it is your responsibilty to sound out and not force yourself to carry on. i know being a guard of honour to some might be a very honourable job and maybe that soldier who fainted do not want to miss out on such a rare opportunity so he forced himself to carry on. i mean if u are physically fit on that day, i don't see why anyone will faint just by standing there and marching for at most 1 hour.

there are lots of reasons for a person not falling out, one of which is that he might attract punishment(extras,etc) or that he get branded as a chao geng'er or he gets hated by the reserve. this is esp true if the person quits for some discomfort and it is found out that it is inconsequencial or worse they can't find anythign althoguh the person feels funny. -

anyway for the 2nd part, i believe the commanders or the reserve are mature enough to determine that if a soldier voices out he is not feeling well, he is actually thinking of the big picture, his body is his afterall, he should know full well whether he can carry on or not, if he believe he can't carry out his task, there is no wrong in him falling out. the commanders surely will not think of him as a chao keng or being hated by the reserve. afterall, who will want to faint in a parade this big. and i seriously don't think anyone will want to chao keng after been training for so long.
