Shame on those who think NS is a waste of time

As a threadstarter, I'd like to apologise for using strong word in my topic. As many of us still conclude NS is a necessity for Singapore, thus anything that is deem necessary wouldn't be called wasting of time. There are still people who feels "ns is a waste of time", also know the importance of NS for Singapore and I wouldn't doubt their love for our country. I am really just targeting at people who goes around and complain about NS. I admire those who endure in silence, cheers. No need to close this thread, because all the flaming can just aim at me, I will not bear any grudge. =)

The whole issue is simply this way as I see it :
If It is not beneficial for our competitiveness in the Public sector of work after NS and also having reservist, Why continue to hurt your own people who gave selflessly by force ?
Please don't complain that Singaporean NSmen are losing out in the same industry. The country forced us , we didnt have a choice. Or we did, we didn't try hard enough to get out from NS by paying for some medical deficiency excuse. -
Haha, i suppose you're right. But it's just that the guys in my camp are especially nonchalent about their relationships with their gfs whilst serving NS. So yah, NS dosen't really cause quite as much relationship problems as one might think. The ones I know who got dumped, were probably going to get dumped anyway. so...
it's quite funny how folks (both men and women) use NS as an excuse to dump each other.
Oh well... I wouldn't blame my gf problems on NS. But I never really had to contend with that... Life's too short to worry about such things, i suppose. -
I wish to add...
Not everyone is suitable for NS.
Some people's character are not suitable and
and i had seen my frens' life and confidence ruined during NS.
While others get bullied by armymates or officers.
Also, some say those who dun do NS are whimpy.
But hey, are u saying the majority people in this world are whimpy?
including all indians, chinese, and angmoh???

NS is a Bloody waste of Time. And a waste of our resources. -
the main aim of an army is to shoot and kill enemies, foot drills and such are just a bloody waste of time...IMO we should do it viet cong style.

I dont mind the 2 years as i still get paid and gain working expereince, but reservist? That should be done away with or hold it once every 2 years...I mean what is the point of it?
It just ruins our lives when the companies dont want to hire Singaporeans but rather opt for FT or females because of reservist liability. And worst still, that Ippt RT training is taking up all the valuable "promotion hours" u can put into the company.
It is affecting the economy itself why dont they get it , damn mudercorks idiots! Keep all that sh|t to regulars. We are not regulars! -

PRC ppl dun give a damn about our country one lah. 10 out of 10 that I spoke to say they don't like it here and they are here for their own selfish reason (eg. to complete studies, to enjoy benefits here, to have more than 1 child etc). They have no feelings for this place one. the reason why pple say its sarks cos the entire system is a big screwed up
pple wont say it sarks IF
1. the allowance given can be compared to the market
(in case some gals here duno, regulars pay are way high above market rate)
2. Treat NSFs as proper human being, give them the due dignity and respect
3. Regulars e.g the high ranks, take on a more main role, while NSF take on the supporting role, currently its the other way round,in some camps. NSF work OT, regulars go home early
4. dun take NSF as scapegoat for any mistakes, if something really goes wrong his immediate regular IC shld be blame also
5. dun play rank n threaten NSF, make them respect ur rank, not fear it,make them obey ur command because they look up to u n respect u, not because u got something on ur shoulder
6. shape the way such that the 2 yrs will not be wasted and be beneficial to his future career
7. give nsf the due freedom like regulars, understand the constraints to active units but certainly something can be arranged, pple got social life also
8. any events or wad, either include everyone or include no one, currently NSFs are not allowed to go for some events, its specifed; regulars only

SAF is a place to waste resources, our tax payer money. the money tat go into the pocket of regulars but they in turn dun appreciate n keep treat NSF like shit. Without all the NSF MEN eg, clerks, drivers, storemens, clerks, medic etc. SAF can't operate, regulars and officers also cannot work but they r the one tat dun appreciate the shit job we did. Hence this type of environment n working culture worth our precious time to serve or not. Its not something do with the country its the problems with SAF.I hate to serve SAF but not the country.
