We don't talk about the criminal first. We talk about the effects of the crime. Thus the law must come extremely harsh on those whose crimes had a widespread effect. This is to deter future repercussions by making a big example of what not to do.
Then we talk about the criminal. He was taught the national pledge. He was taught the history of Singapore. He was taught how every race has its contribution to our nation. He knows he is attacking the very structure our nation was built upon.
Does he not understand his position? He is attacking the nation as a whole. The very foundation we built upon.
Yes publicity on the papers would breed hostility. He had enough publicity and he is not stupid not to know that the Internet is a bigger host for publicity.
As such, his actions cannot be condoned. He shall be victimised to deter others from following.
Yes, we can't really stop racism. In fact we cannot easily identify racist and send everyone of them for counselling. It is the very principle of nature that nature wants us to survive. Every other is a competitor.
Yet, by acting too humanely, we would not be able to stop widespread publicity of racism. It would have given the rest a green light to continue and that would be a catalyst for hatred.
I rest my case here. I think maybe more intelligent people will think more logically than emotionally over here. -

In Nelstar, i finally see someone who approaches the topic with intelligence. This SMAP guy has been fighting for the racists since day one..and always mixing irrelevant issues into the fray, like Malaysian politics, Malayan History and all sorts of other issues which do not pertain to the matter at hand.
I second everything that Nelstar has written.
No one made much noise when Durai got publicly destroyed, realise that Durai was in general doing good, gaining donations and stuff,this mistake was getting a ludicrous pay. Airing out these racists is a similar action, and undoubtedly a deserving one, realise that these racists have done only harm to the fabric of the nation.
I have explained in another similar post on this issue, that education cannot be blamed for these simpletons, as no one can gauge an education system based on the few that go awry. There is always going to be a few that go astray, the education system has guided an overwhelming majority to stay within reasonable confines, these racists have themselves to blame.
Their mistake is hardly small as mentioned by SMAPguy, they are sowing the seeds of discontent between races, and their "minor" indiscretion could lead to disasterous ramifications.
Hence, well, this SMAPguy should cease with his numerous posts regarding the issue as whichever angle he wishes to defend the racists from, there is simply no way that their actions are excusable, and a deterrent punishment is the only way to do it. Public shaming of litterbugs via CWO has been done,this racists behaviour is so much more serious, hence the public shaming they are getting is pretty acceptable in my viewpoint. Now we can see for ourselves how strong their confidence in their racist opinions would be when no longer hidden behind the Internet. -

Alas i have only really been to this forum like less than a month, i think. If they are one and the same, then i think its bloody wonderful, i would love to see more of Nelstar, i really find the Smap persona to be really irritating.
