Like the people talking about improving our educational system are the ones who never experienced education in sg... they probably studied in US, Uk or Aus...Originally posted by mistyblue:- ppl who talk about security by sitting in office and looking at presentation and charts
- ppl who talk about security are those who study hard in schools and then get a very high rank withou any real world knowledge
- ppl who know about security are working the grounds and will tell you nothing done will ever be enough and really, an ex-SPF sarge told me .. its all a game of bluff .. see who bluff who..
But the biggest bluff is pulled on the people...
reading one story and taking it as the total picture... haiz... mi condolence...whahahahhaOriginally posted by the Bear:i was talking to an israeli security fella before...
in israel, they don't bluff.. they are there...
if you look up the history of what the israelis do, it's amazing...
in LAX, in front of El-Al, the israeli airlines, there was this lunatic who appeared and started shooting at random.. the lunatic was shot and taken down in 2.3 seconds because there were israeli agents working incognito amongst the "passengers" milling around..
even the airport security didn't know about them.. the airport security wasn't even ready for anything.. and imagine if that crazy guy was a terrorist instead of a lunatic!
that, is security...
I agree with you. Sadly, our security agencies and law enforcement agencies are more accustomed to swaggering amongst the peasents and arresting ppl who do not fight back.Originally posted by the Bear:i was talking to an israeli security fella before...

Always ironic when the MPs tell everyone that we have "world-class" education systemOriginally posted by SilverPal:Like the people talking about improving our educational system are the ones who never experienced education in sg... they probably studied in US, Uk or Aus...
Our local agency sends Ops people to Israel for training and they had their first taste of what its like to live in their kind of terror and lifestyle. These people do not take security for granted. Anyways, over here, its all high level, hot air talk by the highly paid people who propably would fly to theyr safe place in Swiss if ever sg was attacked.Originally posted by the Bear:i was talking to an israeli security fella before...

Hi, you seem somewhat dissatisfied with how things are going in singapore. Do you intend to migrate?Originally posted by mistyblue:Always ironic when the MPs tell everyone that we have "world-class" education system
when they send their sons, daughters and whoever to US, UK, Aus for even primary school education.
Well, lots of sg people have no choice nor have deep pockets like these people to send their kids overseas. We paid taxes, which make up their salary to allow these people to send their kids overseas and come back to lord over us once again... Its a never ending cycle...
I do not see retiring a good option... the pace of life and the constant need to work long and longer into old age to pay and pay .. plus the indirect message from the govt is that the older people are in the way of the young who are going to make the govt rich. I already feel unwanted here and treated like a 2nd class citizen. So what's being 2nd class in another country?Originally posted by SilverPal:Hi, you seem somewhat dissatisfied with how things are going in singapore. Do you intend to migrate?
I want to migrate but still no concrete plans yet.
You sound like you're very old... No offence.Originally posted by mistyblue:I do not see retiring a good option... the pace of life and the constant need to work long and longer into old age to pay and pay .. plus the indirect message from the govt is that the older people are in the way of the young who are going to make the govt rich. I wish I can just go... but it will take a fair amount of money to do so. I am not a highly paid person

Very worried that I can't find job in future. What line or work are you in?
The future is not written yet. Its up to us to write it. I'm a christian, thus I would believe in "God provides" and "God helps those who help themselves".Originally posted by Mr Fugue:plan also no use, it's all destined.

I guess the kind of fate i believe in is:
If you refuse to study, refuse to attend lecture, your fate to fail the exam is sealed.
If you work hard, work smart at your job, play your cards right, your fate for a cerain measure of success is confirmed.
That is the kind of fate I subscribe to. Hope I din offend anyone.
I agree that education does not matter in the working world... Its your performance and ability to work that counts.Originally posted by Mr Fugue:in order of influence: (most to least)destiny
