wow didnt expect this thread to be hot property but it just goes:
ye thats really a pathetic story but its not uncommon. there are some farknuts out there who actually attempt (and yes, try very hard) to convert their peers though their parents actually dislike their own children to convert.
Friend jioed me there once, and right...I'm horrified to realise something. I just stood at the corner, and view their ceremony and all. something hit me, some of these kids, have parents who are the older gen, taoist/buddhist type of parents. And they actually fight,argue with their parents so as to go to church, but in church, the pastor,someone who has no blood relations with them, asks them to praise the lord and so on, they so willingly praise,so willingly shed tears and so on. I'm horrifed why? Because parents who slog their asses off so that we kids can haf a good life and education and so on, gets thanked by being shouted,yelled and fought by the very ones they are protecting. And the kids can actually listen with total obedience to someone whom they have no blood relations with? How is this possible?
so what has this kinda religion that converts every one cheapen to? a sheer 'fad' item? a peer pressure thing?
i personally know a few chc people who (omfarkinggawd) dont even know that they are PROTESTANTS.
so whats chc about? a peer pressure thing to plunge into? like smoking? just that the smoke is more holy, and perhaps more permanent?okay, for once i will agree with bout au revoir. The church is NOT a place for one to flaunt his/her body. A church goer should dress in a way that he/she would not distract others in the congregation.
my dear friend, we're NOT targetting christians. We're just targetting the dysfunctional styles of chc and their mindless clones.
Being a christian, and having lots of youth friends, the one thing we discourage the youths from doing is arguing or quarrelling with their parents to go to church. Conflict does not resolve the situation. Instead, we encourage them to excel in their studies and reflect a sincere change in attitude towards their parents.
As for this thing abt CHC, lets not spread anymore rumors. This entire "friend of mine got hooked up " thing has been circulating so long. Not healthy to spread rumor. =D Like rumors of aliens landing in ang moh kio... have u heard??
lets put ur theory this way, like those lame pamphlets telling others to "OMG YO BLARDER JOIN OUR SUNDAY HEALING PRAYER SERVICE, CONFIRM + 100% GOT HEALING POWER ONE. Its not strictly about the way one dresses, but also the attitude,values and believes which come along. It really is sad to see Ho Yeow Sun and her hubby's bank account gettin fatter at the expense of these kids and their parents. Also, seriously, why isn't there anyone out there slamming the way these so called devotees react to their parents who are against the idea of them converting etc.?Most are below 20, what do they know about religioun and believes? Nuts! What they know is what they read in the bible, takin word for word at face level, without in-depth studying and analysis.
Also, peers trying to convert me will always "market" the benefits of being a Christian being that one will rise to heaven on our death. But the thing is, the rest non-christians will forever be banished to hell? till the day they embrace Jesus Christ in their arms,then they will be forgiven and allowed to go to heaven.
What about the others?Do the go to hell only?And also...the kids generally just wanna go heaven and seek BGR,and not there to seek a connection with god. -

well, ok, i don't think that you had read my previous post, so i will say again, if(if, if, if, if, if) one day, your parents ask you to cheat in exam so you can get better grades, would you do it? i know this is a very extream way of comparing things, but it is the same as questioning your OWN concious on weather a move is right or not, you own your own concious, no one else owns it.
and secondly, yes, i am afriad, ugly and ilogical as is sound, Non-believers does get banish to hell when they die, you may think that it sound un-kind, that it sound outright unreasonable, but it is not like the chance was never given(if indeed the chance is not given, i am sure God would do otherwise), and you are generalising that people goes church to seek BGR, i can first assure you one thing, the reason a person goes to church for the first time is DEFINATELY not to know God more. it is mostly to make more friends(which, i think is perfectly fine), know more buisness oppertunity(i don't condone this), or, as you said, know more people of the opposite sex, yet it is when they truely see the life a of mature christian, see how different are they with the rest of the world(positively, i can assure you going to CHC is not gonna let you find any positive example), then consider to know God more.
lastly, if you do read the bible word for word, and take it in face level, i can assure you you will not even get a single sense out of it, really.
i do hope you will not look at christianity base only on one single church(or the few charismatic churchs), and that one fine day you might get to see what a true christian should be like

Why are non-believers destined to go to hell? To me, Hell is when your guilty consciousness comes knocking on your door. when u live with having to live with ethical dilemna,that's hell. And besides, has anyone met god himself yet?And you are postin using his super high-speed 1,000,000MBPS broadband service from heaven to tell me that all up there are christians? You can see how unconvincing it is. That's the reason why many religions tell you they are the correct one and that you will go to hell if you dun believe! -
It is part of Christianity to "go out and spread he good news of the Lord". But overzealous christians with rudimentary understanding of the scriptures like to turn relligion into mlm. A christian is not supposed to go and preach to others as a christian is no better than a non christian. Instead, the christian has to use his daily conduct to show the rest of the world what it means to be christian WITHOUT PREACHING OR DISCRIMINATING AGAINST NON BELIEVERS.

Preaching, or more correctly evangelism, is a "commandment" by Christ. Other religions have diff beliefs and advertising and promoting is not mandatory. -

Ok, not all christian are like tt, but mostly. Its not the religion that sux.. its the ppl. They often deliver the belief wrongly.. when they themselves do not fully understand whats written on the bible. Usually christian who approach ppl for preaching, they only know a few lines from the bible. Nxt time if u try flipping thru their bible n anyhow ask them other lines.. most likely they cant explain well.
I got a fren who was a buddhist. She was first attracted to CHC cuz of this good-looking guy. So slowly she goes to the mass & gathering.. etc. As expected she converted to christian shortly after that. At the same time, she got a bf, who she said is very nice to her. Reason of breakup?? Guy dun wan convert christian, she cant be with a non-christian bf. WTF?!
In life, a gd bf/gf may only pass by once.. becuz of religion, she gave up that guy. Not that the religion rule is wrong.. but cannot follow blindly de mah? So being with a non-christian.. and then? And then what? Then u cant go heaven huh? U believe in God ah, ur partner respect God too but jus dun wan convert only. Like tt christian also must set the rule till so die die?
I often ask my christian fren abt the rule they got to follow. When i ask why n why n why, they cant convince me with their ans. In the end, they jus say "jus follow loh.."

it is indeed to go and make diciples of all nation, and yes that DOES involve spreading the good news
but yet it is the intention behind why you are spreading the good news, is it to truely hope a diciple will come from it, or you are freaking trying to hit a quota, or you are trying to look good due to the fact that you bring alot of people to church? thats the main problem here
and yes, i don't think spreading the good news to one person is considered discriminating, the discriminating happens only in that one freaking church
