AGREED! Common sense wins all the timeOriginally posted by SilverPal:The level of education has no bearings on the ability for critical thinking. A diploma holder may have a better ability to think than a masters holder. Just look at our scholars...
At the end of the day, I want a partner who has a good ability to think. Not necessarily have immense database of general knowledge in her head, but sufficient reasoning and logic capabilities. On my part, I too endevour to hone similiar skills since i value it so much...
Well, it helps you weed out all the insincere jerks leaving the good men for you to choose from... And good men are few and far between... so solves your problem of choosing tooOriginally posted by subarugal:read thru..

I tend to quite disagree with that.Originally posted by mistyblue:But higher educated ones talk about owning material things like the low educated ones.
I think ppl's talking/maturity/intelligence have no relationship with their education background but rather the level of exposure to different things in life.
Funny, I thought that would be coming from a guy...Originally posted by mistyblue:I think its easiest not to get involved at all.
save up and retire with less troubles.
Commitment phobia is no longer the domain of guysOriginally posted by SilverPal:Funny, I thought that would be coming from a guy...
Have you watched the Japanese Drama 'Bus Stop' and '101 Proposals'?Originally posted by mistyblue:I guess its to find the right person with the right fit. Once there's fit, the other factors are secondary
I cannot say for other people but mostly I am rejected as a potential partner on grounds of my education even before the people know me any deeper. And most of the highly educated men engage in extra matirial affairs more easily - perhaps in my view more often with lower educated women. These had been my experience.
So reversing the question:
Would a highly educated girl accept a lower educated guy and marry him

R/s are just too much work and too complicated. Hmmm... I sound like a guy... good!!!
101 got watch till the end.. I think its unrealistic.Originally posted by M©+square:Have you watched the Japanese Drama 'Bus Stop' and '101 Proposals'?
Yes. My friend is one good example.
Dip holder with his wife Masters Deg holder.
Together - courtship for 8yrs, married for a year.
But minority la, it's really reality of the world.

how so?Originally posted by SilverPal:Women are taking over the traditionally male dominated traits!!!
I wasn't a committment phob before... things happened along the way... now i'm afraid of the big M word...
Aiyah. it's between two person.Originally posted by mistyblue:101 got watch till the end.. I think its unrealistic.
How about
Master Deg Girl
O-Level not pass Guy
I think the reality of paying bills, bring home the bread, the roles of a household and expectations of the family, esp how people see the girl and guy ... makes all these unique cases very difficult and the obstacles very tough to overcome.
Your a Gemini.Originally posted by M©+square:But i faced this problem before. A girl who has lower education, can talk and get comfortable with. But cannot hold conversation, always revolving around the subject of 'that' level.
Maybe i'm bias.

Various personal experiences that I'm embarrassed to recount and also to a lesser extent stories I've heard contributed to me becoming a committment phob.Originally posted by mistyblue:how so?
Perhaps only with this case?
I've been a commitment phobic all my life and ever time I come to know about real life stories about unfaithful spouse, broken marriages, marriage issues, divorces, blah blah blah. I take so many steps back. I guess I don't trust anyone except myself. Tracing back, everyone and I mean everyone had let me down so for me, perhaps as Fugue said, I am destined to be alone.

I guess I'm one of those traditional "losers" you see on tv. My then partner can sleep with other men, another partner want money only, others want to have more than 1 bf. There are many more that I'd prefer not to recollect but after sometime, I realised that i can only trust myself. Even my current gf is shopping ard for better guys. What can I say?

I they could find ways to handle the relationship till marriage. Bless them! It's hard to find such relationships at constant.
My friend's wife paid for his dip sch fees for the whole of three years
Very difficult. I believe if both still wants to try and willing to try, It is possible.
Yunnie have a good essay on this topic.

***Anyway, at the end of the day, it all boils down to compatibility... on whether you are able to accept this particular person or not. You see, none of you are wrong - but it is how you perceive issues that are relevant to yourself because you deemed it as paramount in your potential list. You understand yourself best and know what is good for you when it comes to serious relationship... the criteria you are looking for. Education is also a criteria by itself. Some people feel it doesn't matter. Some people think it does. Others may feel that it is a factor that indirectly involve OTHER factors - like what MCsquare had mentioned: the depth of communication.
In CloUdiSm, there are four types of compatibility: Lifestyle, Emotional, Communication and Material. Depending on each individual, each of this category may deem MORE critical than the other. But nevertheless, in an ordinary relationship, the first level we always seek is Similar Compatibility. We are often comfortable to people that are similar to us and that belongs to the first level of compatibility. Like he/she plays the same sport/interest... love opera... communicate on same frequency, etc.
However, Similar Compatibility usually cannot ensure lasting, fulfilling effect promise by Love. That is but the inaugural step in attraction, for excessive similarity breeds a monotonous relationship. More often than not, people begin to discover the real glue that sticks a relationship and gives it some meaning and fulfilment... is what we term as Complementary Compatibility. It is the personality that complements each other. (E.g. A man, who may be successful in his career, may learn that a domestic type of woman fits him better than say a career woman, because it complements that area where he is lacking. In Western Astrology, the cusp of Career and Home is directly opposite each other. We called it MC and IC, respectively). The law of polarity is at work here, where people fill in our weakness and we fill others with our strength. This process of intertwining is a very powerful force in Love.
***Lower educated or not? If Cupid strikes you with an arrow of Love... even if he/she is completely out of your league, you will fall in Love. Likewise, if the narrowly arrow missed you, no matter how 'good' he/she is or may be to others, you will feel it's impossible. No armour is formidable to ward off Love's arrow - even Zeus isn't spare, as written in mythology.
Always expect the unexpected. The mind can never fully decipher the profound language of Love.
Cheers
