Why should i give my seat

Why not give my seat to someone who is 170% obese as well because his stomach buldges out like the pregeant woman
if the pregeant woman is scared of miscarriage when she goes to a bus.Then take a cab

IMHO, i think that it all comes down to goodwill... If u can show kindness and offer someone who needs the seat more than u, thats good.
but if u don, it is seen by some people as not having goodwill. however, u have done nothing wrong under the law.
the fare pays for the trip from one place to another, not for an entitlement of a seat....
one thing to note, "a society will collapse if people just lived by laws, and not with goodwill as well" -

Who says the senior citizens do not get seats?I saw a senior citizen seating on the driver's seat driving the bus.That is still a seat

but since attitude and empathy works both ways, do you reckon that we really shouldn't be faulting people who are expecting seats to be given to them the same way we shouldn't be faulting people who don't offer their seats?
This topic is a pointless debate, unfortunately started by the former. How silly is that? Had they had a better attitude and more empathy, we wouldn't even be discussing this like it is an issue to begin with.

let's look at this mother. she carries a baby. she takes the bus. she sees students(main target) not giving her seats. she DOES NOT want to ask kindly for a seat. she goes home and writes to ST Forum.

IMO once again ... i think its becos the lady who started this topic on straites times aim one grp of pple.... which are the students.... which bring abt some unhappiness to a person belonging to this grp loh.
Well i think anyone who is able to stand can give up their seats if they want to, even old pple who think that they are fit enuff to stand. And i really wonder who is seating on the green seats during that time... the students? -
The students in Singapore are already damned stressed with the educational system. Pls, working adults usually start work at 8. Students start school at 7 plus, and it is expected that they are tired.
At this time, students are having their exams. Is it so hard to just want to sit on the bus? There are so many people on the bus, adults, who are healthy and can take a little standing up. Why is it that everytime there is such shit, it is the students who get flak for it?
The pregnant woman, if she really wanted a seat, she can jolly well ask for it. Being pregnant dont entitle you to special privilege, pls. I am sure if she ask nicely, the student would have given it to her. But to aim the student just because he/she is MORE LIKELY to give up his/her seat because he/she is a student, that is wrong, because that would be bullying. She never ask for the seat, EXPECTED that she was given one.
So, who's at fault? -

nobody is forcing u to give up your seat, when the person next to u gives up his/her seat to the pregeant lady, it only goes to show how selfish u are

giving up ur seat is really ur own choice. it only reflects your character, whether you're nice or not. shrugs. feel free not to give up ur seat, cuz there are others with better character who will.
