i sprinkle some sand on him and he sits there and just looks at me.. now, he's so spoilt, the big sunflower seeds, he'll take and throw them on the floor.. until you got to open for him

hey no good too cos he saws his teeth by opening up e seeds..unless u provide him e woodchew or etc for him..so free ar sit there n open for him hahaha..
he low tech la..still stick to licking his palms to wash face..haha..but wat if u keep him in e bathhouse dun let him out? let him explore n learn lehz?

yeah.. female hamsters smaller.. would you have sex with a much bigger woman?
yeah lah, but i scared female hamsters will be more emotional than male hamsters leh. is it?(like in humans)
(alfa-gal)yeah but female hamsters are more likely to die of diseases at old age..
but female hamsters is it they live longer? because in humans, females live up to 8 - 10 years longer than males, so does it apply to hamsters as well?
also, not to sound pervert or anything, but if i'm cleaning/washing/bathing the female hamster, then the private parts how? because in humans, the female privates are more delicate and get infected more easily than males, and they also got menstration and periods and that kinda messy thing.
does all these apply to hamsters too?hee..ever tried giving them potato chips n choc..they ate on e spot and *poof* gone already e food..
can give hamsters meat anot? like shreds of chicken or fish?

what sand bath? i thought u use water???
because maybe next year when i buy hamster, i intend to bath it by putting in under the tap and rub it gently etc.

give hamsters protein.. they need it..
supposed to give them mealworms once a week or something.. but give them boiled egg white or some small strips of chicken...
as for cleaning them, try not to use water... there is soft sand which can be bought at the pet shop.. fine sand for them to clean themselves in.. they will roll around in it and any oils or yukky stuff will stick onto the sand and fall off
get them really young and handle and play with them a lot.. so they will be accustomed to being handled and will not bite..
and most of all love your hamsters -
what i do to give my hamsters protein is catch those bugs that fly into ur house and feed it... and they love it.. esp those brown and black bettles

he's a Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamster
the "generic" dwarf hamster.. i like this breed because they have the least genetic problems and their health is pretty good if you look after them well.. and also, i like the colour of them -

the syrian is kinda big compared to these campbell's
and hopefully, you get one which is smarter than mine.. and knows how to clean itself -

oh well, i had 2 very fierce campbells before.. i got them after they were fully grown so they were very fierce.. i lost a lot of blood looking after that two.. they liked to bite.. even when you put food in your hand, they'd rather bite you -
not sure bout their life-span if its longer than males or not..but so far out of e three i had, e male died earlier but still older than 2 yrs old...then both females died ard 2.5 yrs old, both cos of skin disease..can see lump on e skin..like cancer or tumor like tat lo..
but such are hard to avoid..cos old liaoz..but if it happens to a rather young hamster, pls go see vet soon lo..
no menses or watsoever..
pls do not bathe them in water..they are terrified of them..(although they can swim in water) can be seen as after u really bathe them, they throw up and soon u can see much more feces and they tremble..use sand..they are more friendly..easier for u too...cos they can jus own time own target (OTOT) go in n out of e bathhouse..
if u are breeding, then have to b careful when e female conceive..best is to isolate the father n have e cage to the mother n kids... -

but this is really confusing.....hamsters are herbivores right? or are they carnivores? or omnivores? because i always compare hamsters with rabbits and rabbits never eat meat one leh.
somemore, if hamsters eat chicken meat still ok, but mealworms? KNN! i think already want to puke! maybe it's because the hamsters eat mealworms every now and then that they get strange diseases?

hamsters in the wild will eat anything.. they mostly eat seeds but will eat things like insects and worms for protein..
very young hamsters, look around.. they are about the size of the old 50c coin
soft sand, you can get at the pet shop too... the good ones.. they sell it as chinchilla sand.. the dirt and stuff will stick onto the sand and the hamster shakes it off.. i bought mine, a 2 litre bottle of the sand for $12
just put some (about 1/2 cm deep) in a small dish (a shallow container they give at the hawker centre is best) and drop the hamster in it.. the hamster will know what to do if it's smart enough
most of all, figure ALL the things out before you get a hamster -

and get hamsters which are young. yes, the pet shop owner may charge you more if the hamsters are young. but, they are worth it. -
for cages, i recommend the habitrail series..

you can purchase add-ons which act as a look-out tower or even as a place to put the bathing sand..
do they still sell these cages now? it's been ard 8mths since my last hamster died.
