  with synthetic gemstones flooding the market, it's very hard to find natural gemstones.

  Actually my opinion is buy diamond is for show off only at grand wedding dinner or major gala event. Say suddenly both hubby and wife get retrenched and savings dwindling fast. Desperate measures call for desperate moves and decide to go pawn shop pawn stuff get money to tide over current difficult situation.
  
  Diamonds alot so wat? Cannot get a few $. If got gold different especially wedding tat time mother give 4 point gold pieces can take and pawn get some money hehehehe....
  
  PS My wife hide those gold away until I also dunno where. Got free time must go hunt see she put where. It seem she spread the gold pieces over several hiding places.... hmmmm........

  becos pawnshop-owners are smart and they know about synthetic gemstones already.

  i think its for decoration, dun need alot.. like a lil diamonds in a dress watch is very nice.

  He means that they know that synthetic gems exsist so they are smart enough not to want to allow you to pawn gemstones and therefore their preference for gold
