Computer Problem - Help and Advice Needed Urgently!

I know posts in sgForums can occur really fast, but my goodness.. I didn't know you guys can respond so quickly to help.. I am really impressed.
You know what? I shut my notebook down and left it for a while.. After reading your posts, I try to start it again.. and presto... it boots nicely, though there was a slightly long wait for Windows to start..
Any idea why this happened? Anything that I need to do to prevent such things from happening again?

many possible cause...bios, harddisk...but confirm nt OS.

But you wouldn't believe it, but I have been having another problem with my desktop PC as well.. Last night, I almost considered admitting it into the hospital (aka PC Clinic).
I suspect there's something wrong with the graphics card or driver. Everytime I boot my PC up, it would sometimes take a long long long time before windows get started. During the long long long time, the screen is blank. It can happen for hours before Windows start successfully.
At times, there would be a system error message that asks if I would like to send the error report. Well, the few times that I clicked OK, I would be directed to download a new ATI Driver.
There was once when Windows got started but there were black squares here and there. I suspect these are symptoms of something wrong with my PC graphics card.
Don't ask me to open up my PC please. Just as some people are aversive to blood, I am aversive to the internal parts of the PC. My PC is about 2.5 years old, and warranty is still valid for carry-in for services, not parts.
Well, experts out there, is this a graphics card problem? So I should carry my PC to the hospital to have its graphics card replaced?

Could be monitor problem. Considering that nowadays monitors are made not to last for more than 3 years and yours is only 2.5 years old, this could be the most likely problem. Try connecting your PC to another monitor. If it works fine, it is the monitor. As your PC takes a long time to start up, I suspect spyware in your PC. Get some anti-spyware tools to scan and remove the spyware. There's also a possibility of your PC getting infected with a virus, so check for viruses as well. -

Could the graphic card have been overclocked, if have overclock,reset it back.
Last reason, could be your graphic card is going to spolit -

and im super interested in the Mac platform as well. Have been using it in school almost everyday. Gonna get one when IntelMac comes out next year
