i always remove e batt unless i m in sch, where i dun run on AC power....
its always on my table..think its so hot to have a laptop on my thighs..

plug the monitor in the tv output of ur laptop (if have)
then u go to desktop, right-click...
display properties -> settings
pick monitor 2
then check "extend my Windows Desktop on this monitor"
APPLY -
basically it's extending the display across 2 screens....U know those big displays like the one in Ngee Ann City...the indoor exhibition area?...the display is spread over several TV monitors....its the same idea....Originally posted by joy132:How it works, I like to know
how it's done is just connecting the VGA output of ur laptop to the external monitor...then choose the correct setting from ur laptop...then U will see ur display spread over 2 screens...note that it is different from showing the same display on 2 screens. -

My acer lappy always give me problems when I game using the wireless modem. So everytime when Im at home, I use the ____(dunno whats that called) cable line.
Its quite trouble some because I cant game in my bedroom properly. Always need to game at the study room to prevent lag.

that one is ethernet cable...also known as LAN cable..
i think ur problem not much option....cos wireless is of course slower than using cable...wireless gaming is still not up to standard yet.... -

I never shut down my laptop unless away on a long trip. Just on monitor off and harddisk to sleep that all.
but it the same as my desktop also never off unless on long trip. -
The first laptop I got, I spoiled it through violence. Whenever there was some screw-up, slow connection or what, I'd bang on it, such that eventually the hard disk couldn't take it anymore and went R.I.P. That was okay, cos the thing was under international warranty and I got the hard disk replaced F.O.C.
But one year later, the screen decided that it liked warped displays, and occasionally gave me screwed up, fun-fair mirror type displays of my desktop. The problem was just unfathomable and inscrutable and unsolveable. On good days it would work normally. But when PMS came it came hard and long. Sometimes the screen was warped for several consecutive days. Until once it went AWOL so long that I decided that the laptop is to be condemned, and got a new one. Now I don't bang on the laptop anymore. I take it out on the desk or table top or the wall instead. -

nope just on my table. it dun create alot of prob just make sure that you change ur monitor off time and harddisk sleep time so that when you are not using, it will not keep running which will create unnecessary heat.Originally posted by Xcert:then U got put ur laptop on cooler pad? -
i find difficulty using the keyboard of laptop...they're small and to me quite prone to error...i prefer the deep button keyboard for PC...

but i prop up the laptop on lego bricks that i used to play
for better air circulation. -

Leave laptop on 24/7 to dl stuff..but used cooler pad. But turn lcd screen off to conserve it. 3years edi.. So far so good.
