Anyway I did a search....they have leather made out of fish skin too so that isn't so far-fetched. I still like my ray in my tank and not as my wallet consider your stingrays lucky, or else you will be searching the internet on "How to skin a stingray alive!" The other fish that can turned into wallet is sandpaper fish. Do you maintain the keeping of the fishes alone or you share with your family members? There is one aquarium in chinatown (opp the food center), they stocked quite a numbrers of freaky looking fishes. There is one particular one, it look like a fish but on certain angle it look like a salamander. It is interesting to go round aquariums to check out what new stocks they have.
Do you go around checking out at other aquariums? Any comment or funny look from the shop owner when they knew you are interested in stingray and catfish.

I just do the easy stuff like feed the fishes and test for the pH level etc. If the water is wrong I'll just call my darling to do a water change
Haha I'll pop by to look. Oh I have seen those fishes before. Yes I do check out other aquariums as well. They just comment that girls usually don't like those kind of fishes -

If you got the chance to go for a holiday, visit this island call Cayman Island of Pacific Ocean, over here you can swim and ride on the back of giant Manta ray, Eagle ray, Golden brown ray. It is some sort of a sancturay place for the stingrays, ...interesting?? -

They are his babies as well.
Anyway the motoros are now less shy. One of them was gliding mid-water yesterday looking out of the tank. Was sooooo cute but we didn't manage to get a picture of it doing that. Will try to and post pics

As you can see, it's not a reef tank, just fishes with rocks. Really nothing compared to the impressive reef tanks you see in the aquariums. It's been running since June '05, and is still quite empty. Am planning to add some shrimps to this tank.

..... wahh...cornyfish2000, that's a good looking fish tank!! As you mention, a bit under-populated. Add a few more plants and fishes will be a nice complete tank. Those inhabitants in the tank now are very colourful indeed, what other fishes you plan to stock up?

Plus, it likes to eat live feeder fish and will bite fishes too I have a pic of it somewhere but it is a top down view so you can't see the other mouth

He's a leopard catfish. He's just brown with yellow patterns -

It sure looked liked a leopard, the spot very even and regular. Even the whiskers also got pattern. heyy.. this leopard catfish is quite uncommon, better keep it. Those i kept before one were dark ugly grey colour caught from the canals.
But bery funny, this leopard catfish look quite fierce yet still got bullied, other fishes never give him respect... -

Those dark ugly grey ones are the feeder catfish. I just gave my brother one. The ones I use to feed my ray grew too big and it's now tank mates with my brother's Luo Han -

I came home just now and guess what i saw...
My dear red-tail has swallowed the airstone! Now it has the other end of the air tubing sticking out of his mouth... I really dunno if i should risk pulling the tubing out of his mouth (and risk injuring him) or to wait for him to regurgitate. But it seems to be in respiratory distress leh...

Those feeder catfishes are walking catfishes... they are widely regarded as pests in the USA. Some aquarists introduced these catfishes into their rivers after they outgrew their fish tanks at home. In the riverways, these walking catfishes have been accused of destroying the ecosystem by their aggressive cannibalistic behaviour, feeding on other fishes... this problem is compounded by the fact that they reproduce so quickly.Originally posted by elindra:The unfortunate victim was a feeder carp. And when the rivers dry up or when food is depleted, these walking catfishes simply slither out of the rivers, cross the land in search of new rivers/waterways to inhabit (and destroy).
And biologically, they are perfectly capable of living out of the water for very long periods at a time. This is because they have an accessory breathing organ in their heads, allowing them to breathe atmospheric air. And in fact, their gills are poorly developed. Thus even when in water, they have to come up to the surface to take gulps of air periodically, and will die if not given the chance to do so. As long as their skin remains moist (they do not have scales), they will not die on land.
