I was so amazed and impressed that I went to buy a Fujitsu S series at Fujitsu booth beside it. -

If IBM can make thier laptops so good, they should sideline to blackboxes, not laptops.

IBM Laptops can last so well that you wouldn't have an excuse in the future to change it.
But with budget, an Acer works as well -

Go for Compaq or Hp.
Sony - good screen & sound by will die out on you first, a lot of problems.
Dell - if you don't have the budget.
Acer - too fragile to take too much knocks.
NEC, toshiba, IBM , fujistu expensive. -
