Studied 3 years of Poly, Computer Information Systems. And then 2 years for my Degree in Computer Science in the local uni.
Now I sell laksa at Bukit Batok.
I feel that one should study for the sake of studying. When you love your field, you ooze charisma when you talk about it. People will hire you for it.
Like for me, I ooze Computer Science even though I sell laksa now. You from very far away can see that its a computer science graduate selling laksa.
Dun believe right? Dunno what I am talking about right? Come to Bukit Batok Central. The laksa store at the hawker store, 2nd row from the mama shop.

back to topic.. i had a classmate who finished NS in the private dip i took, he was very pro and hardworking. he was a grad for chemical processing or something from poly. in the end, he couldn't find a job and had to take private dip in computer sciences. later on he went on to advance diploma becuz he said he couldn't find a job.
my friend, who haven't even come out from ns got a job in counselling waiting for him. he haven't even finish his private dip in accounting. my classmate, according to him, is a partner in a concept house, recently incorporated and probably won't have trouble finding a job after graduating (inc NS).
its not the dip, its your fate.

I was like you one before 3 years ago. I decided to take logistics and operations management becos there was still demand for this industry professionals. Tell u the truth, i hated logistics course and its subjects. No, i didnt flunk in my studies and i did top my cohort. But there was no interest. I could have chosen marketing which is where my true interest lies. im having hard time confirming the course that im going to choose for the JAE thingy.. have to get ready real soon. JAE is approaching. I dun wanna end up regretting for choosing the wrong course and worse still, ended up getting a useless diploma. I hope i can get into a course that i can have passion for..

I think its important to choose a general diploma.
Try not to over-specialize at 17. You may not know what you really really want now. It's alright to do an IT diploma, but if you went to do a diploma that specializes in a specifc field in IT.... say security, you may find that you may 1) realize later that you do not like it. 2) Realize that suddenly the demand for such a professional drop in a couple of years time 3) Find that there are limited number of universities that recognizes and give your diploma advance standing.
So, do a something that is more general. It gives you the space to move later on. -
Or, rule of the time..
choose something that has a compatible degree course in most university if you know that you will be getting a degree later definitely.
Like for example... Diploma in Accounting. Definitely got Degree in Accounting
Diploma in Information System. Definitely got Degree in Information Systems.
Basically, don't choose something that limit your movement later on in life. -

To be truthful, unless you are into R&D or teaching, basically theory are not so much needed. Cuz you learnt to function it rather than create it IMO. Tat is why some private companies prefer engage Poly than Uni graduates due to the nature of the job scope. They feel poly can do more whereas Uni graduates tok more than they use their hands

Erm... I holding onto a Standard Diploma now and is finishing my Advance Diploma this coming May.
This is what i heard from me clzmate:
She's a Chinese from China, working in ST(Singapore Technologies).
One year ago when she finish her Standard Diploma with me, she became a supervisor.
Now recently, as she took the Advance Diploma earlier than me and finishes.
She got a pay rise of $50 bucks.
Btw, i'm from a pte institution and not those very famous ones.
But is Cambridge Diploma in Business~ -
