Why must we waste on our tax money on low-income people

Some (infact many) kids from poor families strive hard coz they know how hard life is being poor.. and eventually, they become successful people...and they start to contribute to the society in return......
but for rotten people like you. the threadstarter.... even if you have a golden spoon stucked in your arse. To say such stuffs...i doubt you had proper upbringing do you? you're 10000000 times worse off that those poor kids..... you being alive's just a waste of oxygen. -

Hallo.....aktually the thinking that the poor should not be bothered with, and is a waste of money to help them, is not uncommon.
However you should firstly remember why you pay tax. You pay tax to the government, which represent the society, so you pay tax to the society.
In other words, you pay tax for the embetterment of society, or put in other words you pay tax to embetter other people, as well as yourself in the process, for everyone.
It might be difficult to imagine how you can benefit and embetter yourself by spending your money for the poor, compared to spending on roads or buildings, for example.
The answer is externality, every disadvantaged person is actually harming you. By helping them actually you are helping yourself by letting them illuminate more positive externality, thus embettering the society which you yourself also live in, and therefore gain from. This is essentially not much different from spending on roads or buildings.
If you worry about them spending on vices/ luxury, etc, keep in mind that many governments including Singapore is very careful not to encourage welfarism, Singapore has pretty tight policy with measures in place, for instance the handout amount is just minimum to get by, and where possible it includes other help such as job training, etc.
So now you should keep these in mind, and come at peace with yourself. -

The estate duty is to ensure people dont get rich simply by inheriting wealth. and also think about those who broke out of the poverty circle when they were adults compared to those who remained in the poverty circle for the rest of their life.Obviously, those who broke out of it strived hard to do so, those who remained probably did not. -

do you know you jackas.s that some students have to stop their studies and go out find work just to support their poor familes when their parents are out of jobs because of illness? poor girls or guys might even have to resort to selling their bodies just to meet ends needs. i think you never seen such scenarios before to understand. yar yar whine and cry all you want. this is just your blind sided view.

i did not say anything about priviledges enjoyed by them, i said that dont always think that rich people slack and can get to where they are now.
