Most restaurants provide Serviettes. If they stop doing that...it really becomes more like a kopitiam already. EVen Fast food outlets provide serviettes and serve Ice water....and restaurants cant do that? What a joke! actually i think 90% of the restaurants that serve ice water serve tap water.
never see anyone served boiled water before...or maybe i suaku.. -

the water network system of singapore is very clean, not only the water..
u may say "the pipes not clean.. so i boilw ater first.."
every year, PUB will shut down different sections of the pipes and re-route the water supply to different pipes.. so that water supply can still go to ur house..
during this re-routing process, cleansing chemicals mixed with newater will be flushed down the pipes to clean them..
the chemicals contain certain things to prevent rust and watever bacteria to grow.. (pipes are rust proof but those are prevention methods)...
after cleaning the pipes 2 times.. high pressure water will be pumped to clean the pipes..
they use newater for these flushing in order to save cost and precious water.. (anyway.. for those who work in industrial estates, ur water from the tap is also from newater.. lol.. happy drinking from water cooler or haf nice coffee ;p)
this cleaning process takes 1-2yrs to complete and then the cycle repeats again..
anyway....... ya lar....... chao chee *** water so expensive to serve meh.. that time i was at grand copthorne hotel........ the pontini.. (i think that's how u spell)....... $15 for 1.5l of water........... nb day light robbery... we had a big table.. so 5 bottles of water....... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -
