The thing is, in Singapore, you can drink from the taps. So there is hardly any cost to provide "iced water" to the customer.
I still remember I went overseas (I think it was Australia). A glass of iced water cost A$2 or something like that. Only find out when paid up.

my place..ice/warm water = free
cold mineral still water = $5.00 (500ml)
many angmos drink still..4 head 4 bottle = $20

the servers' hands that wipe the tables, clears away dishes, handles money, dumps the rubbish, etc, is the same hands that dip the iced water jugs into the igloo pail of iced water (read: tap water plus ice cubes) ..... waiters and waitresses are harried people, scolded by everyone from the manager to the chefs to the customers, they don't have the luxury of washing their hands before getting the water ..... and I'm talking about my first hand experience here .....Originally posted by zerocool85:why not? please tell us why?
