actually, like i said, donating within buddhism is about compassion. Xtians are normally the ones who do things to make themselves guilt free, not to benefit others. Afterall, the very reason they embrace xtianity is because they don't want to go to hell. If u look at it in context, its actually a selfish act, as they don't want to have to pay for their sins.Originally posted by contact:actually i dont think so..
most of them donate is to make themselves more.....guilt free..
no offence
relativity accounts for earth being in the middle of the solar system? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!Originally posted by sgFish:Because the Biblical records tell us that, but does not tell us that earth is flat nor in the middle of the solar system.
EDIT: although, if you take into account relativity, the earth can be be in the middle of the solar system or even the whole universe.

2ndly, xtians say jesus already died on the cross for all sins past present n future. u're in jesus's future, so yr sins have been paid for. u can sin all u want n go to heaven. so go ahead n drink yrself silly![]()

lol.. MLM.. sales thru hot market..Originally posted by virce:no offence, but...i have relatives who tried and still trying to talk us into christiannity.
they will purposely come to our house and talk sense into us...saying something like: we are actually here to help you so that you will go to heaven..bla bla bla if you dont believe in God and Jesus, you will go to hell.
when i told them that i believe that jesus and god exist, they dont stop there..they will keep on talking about christianity..
in the end, i ended up argueing with her cause she started saying that those who are not christians are actually worshipping satan and ghost.![]()
im not xtian, but it seems ceecookie is. so why should he be worried about sinning?Originally posted by breytonhartge:I don't think so.
Jesus died on the cross for your sins, yes, but have you accepted His offer of salvation? If you have not, then you still won't go to Heaven. (From a Christian standpoint). If you don't accept His offer of salvation, your sins still remain to your debt. They have not been paid for.
Do you honestly think you can sin all you want and go to Heaven? God is a God of righteousness and He cannot stand sin. Seriously, God will judge your heart, I do not know, but GOD does. He knows your heart.

Are you sure?
relativity states that the only constant in the universe is the speed of light.Originally posted by HENG@:relativity accounts for earth being in the middle of the solar system? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
sorry but there isn't even grounds for that argument. Earth orbits sun, period.
That is sad, because I know so many that are not.Originally posted by HENG@:Like I said, its a very self orientated religion, and its no small wonder so many xtians I meet are pretty selfish.
Whether the earth is 6000 or 6 million years old, only God knows. I can accept that it can be 6000 and I can accept that it can be 6 million. God is God. Remember that there was the time of Noah where it rained for 40 days and 40 nights and the waters covered even the highest peaks so that no visible land was seen. Can you imagine the kind of pressure this would have produced? So wether carbon dating is accurate, whether fossil records are accurate, who can say. Only God has that answer.Originally posted by HENG@:u wouldn't know it from listening to the "6000 yr old earth" xtian speak!
i mean, seriously, does accepting an offer of salvation mean u have to believe in things like that? Seriously u dun see these people who say must believe everything in the bible keeping their beards n not wearing clothes of non mixed fibres do u?
Can't people accept that the xtian scholars made a mistake and that they are underestimating the powers of God? Geez
you and him doesn't mean u don't have to consider others when u act. the world is more than just u and him. And the fact is, yes a lot of them are selfish people. They don't care if they inconvenience or harm others as long as they can attain their salvation.Originally posted by breytonhartge:That is sad, because I know so many that are not.
Christianity is not a self orientated religion, it is not even a relgion. What Christianity means is that it is a personal relationship with God. Just you and Him.
The bible tells us what God and Jesus have done for us. It ultimately is up to you to make the decision whether to believe and accept or not. Only you and God know what is happening between the two of you.
God Bless.
Very much agreed.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Whether the earth is 6000 or 6 million years old, only God knows. I can accept that it can be 6000 and I can accept that it can be 6 million. Being a Christian does not mean that you have to believe that the earth is 6000 years old, there is debate on this even in the Christian circle. But these things are not central or crucial to ones salvation.
The bible is God's living word and it does not tell us to do certain things without good reason. Investigate this a bit further and you may be surprised at what you may find.
Like I said before, it is up to each individual to choose what he/she wants to believe. Ultimately we will all reap the consequences of our actions, be they good or bad.
oh please u can take the earth as a reference point and u won't even get something remotely close to a circle. the mathematics would totally go wrong. this kind of argument u still want to press with? Nevermind. Like I said, if u think that teaching kids the wrong thing is your path to salvation, go ahead.Originally posted by sgFish:relativity states that the only constant in the universe is the speed of light.
Earth orbits the sun if you take the sun as a reference point. The sun orbits the earth if you take the earth as a reference point. The sun orbits any other planet in the solar system if you do take it as a reference point. The basis of relativity is that there is no fixed reference point in the three dimensional space of the universe, the only constant is the speed of light through a vacuum, no matter when viewed at any speed or position. Your shallow understanding of this concept is evident in your responses.
The concept of earth orbiting the sun and the sun orbiting the centre of the galaxy can only be said if you only take into account newtonian physics, which already is proven to be only an estimate, and works only within a certain range of values. One example are atomic clocks, where transporting them between different locations requires recalibration according to relativistic time dilation.
if you take earth as a reference point, the suns orbit around the earth would indeed produce the same orbit that the earth produces around the sun. Just that the pathways of the other planets would not, and can only be corrected by drawing orbitals over orbitals. So to simplify it, the sun was taken as the centre of the solar system (which is true, as the phrase solar system implies that the sun is based in the centre)Originally posted by HENG@:oh please u can take the earth as a reference point and u won't even get something remotely close to a circle. the mathematics would totally go wrong. this kind of argument u still want to press with? yes i remember the great flood. no the pressures while great, is not a good enough explanation for a big difference of billions of years difference in evidence and actual age. And no we don't just use carbon dating to date things. and honestly, earth is not even 6 million years old. its much older than that. If u can't respect our planet and give it its age's due, which, according to xtians, is God's creation, then what more other people? Like I said, its all about yourself 1st before everyone else isn't it?Originally posted by breytonhartge:Whether the earth is 6000 or 6 million years old, only God knows. Christians still continue to sin don't they? You still sin don't you? So what's the diff between someone who accepts and someone who doesn't accpet and tries not to sin and someone who says I really don't know. Nothing. Only a delusion in the Christian's own head that they are saved. If it makes you happy why not? Except when it interferes with your life in a negative way.Originally posted by breytonhartge:I don't think so.
