I'm surprised that they can scrap a project which have already started. Well, now their creditbility is questionable.

They are giving up on the stupid idea due to 2 reason.
1) Spore use the International Tribunal of the Law of the Seas ( ITLOS ) trick that Msia used sometime ago to protest against Spore Reclaimation works on our side of the Johor Straits. Using the same trick that they used on us. So they suck thumb. Likewise, the Pedra Branca issue, why now no hoo ha from them, Because Spore use the same reason that Msia gave when they fighting the Sipadan islands with Indonesian.
2) Spore said we are willing to talk.Bring in the issue of Sand and training airspace in Johor, which Johor was not prepared to compromise on. They rather give up the project, then give us their Johor airspace for training.
I suspect the 3rd reason . They purposely start on the project even before reaching any form of agreement with Spore, knowing that this project is not doable. Then as expected, when they annouce the project is off, they need to write off the project. And blame it on Spore for the failed project. And guess where the $$ will go to ? -
They really needed to upgrade themselves...

Actually I will prefer if they just remain like this. Esp their gahmen. This will be good for Spore.
This type of behaviour, at Gahmen level, can put off investors.
remember the water contract issue. From 3sens to dunno how much they wanted. Hey all is stated in a contract, STATE LEVEL contract mind you. Yet they can go back on their words. Spore was kind enough to say, ya, lets look at the current situation and offer them the reasonable price for water. But they went overboard.
But in the end, we may be paying more than 3sens for the water, but we really end up the winner. Why ? Bcos the gahmen had just proved to the international community , that even a STATE level contract with another country , the gahmen can go back on their words. Will a company put its regional HQ in a political environment like that ? I will not if I am in that position.
Good, let the clowns continue their demonstration to the international community.

although its true at state level m'sia maybe a laughing stock over such issues, our govt policies toward foriegn investors are not anymore kinder as a fact.
recent trend is in biotech, investor pour in. after this period (which concession last about 5 years? or maybe more?). concesion ends, the companies affected convenes a board to decide where to move on to contain the costs? and still continue regional presence? move to china? taiwan? malaysia?
see this big picture?
so next another trend may be pushed up, another round ... ends up nothing stays stable except work for the gahmen

i tink this proposal of building a tunnel was brought up n suggested a few years back....but was estimated to be 20 billion sing dollars if built.....it means both side hav to fork out like 10 billion sing dollars??......omg a 2 billion straight proper bridge dey dun wan dey wan a 20 billion tunnel??....
plus both side's infrastructure like immigration building arent ready for an underground tunnel linking yeah??....n it is expensive to maintain one...... -
